La preghiera di Gesù
17 Così parlò Gesù. Quindi, alzati gli occhi al cielo, disse: «Padre, è giunta l'ora, glorifica il Figlio tuo, perché il Figlio glorifichi te. 2 Poiché tu gli hai dato potere sopra ogni essere umano, perché egli dia la vita eterna a tutti coloro che gli hai dato. 3 Questa è la vita eterna: che conoscano te, l'unico vero Dio, e colui che hai mandato, Gesù Cristo. 4 Io ti ho glorificato sopra la terra, compiendo l'opera che mi hai dato da fare. 5 E ora, Padre, glorificami davanti a te, con quella gloria che avevo presso di te prima che il mondo fosse.
6 Ho fatto conoscere il tuo nome agli uomini che mi hai dato dal mondo. Erano tuoi e li hai dati a me ed essi hanno osservato la tua parola. 7 Ora essi sanno che tutte le cose che mi hai dato vengono da te, 8 perché le parole che hai dato a me io le ho date a loro; essi le hanno accolte e sanno veramente che sono uscito da te e hanno creduto che tu mi hai mandato. 9 Io prego per loro; non prego per il mondo, ma per coloro che mi hai dato, perché sono tuoi. 10 Tutte le cose mie sono tue e tutte le cose tue sono mie, e io sono glorificato in loro. 11 Io non sono più nel mondo; essi invece sono nel mondo, e io vengo a te. Padre santo, custodisci nel tuo nome coloro che mi hai dato, perché siano una cosa sola, come noi.
12 Quand'ero con loro, io conservavo nel tuo nome coloro che mi hai dato e li ho custoditi; nessuno di loro è andato perduto, tranne il figlio della perdizione, perché si adempisse la Scrittura. 13 Ma ora io vengo a te e dico queste cose mentre sono ancora nel mondo, perché abbiano in se stessi la pienezza della mia gioia. 14 Io ho dato a loro la tua parola e il mondo li ha odiati perché essi non sono del mondo, come io non sono del mondo.
15 Non chiedo che tu li tolga dal mondo, ma che li custodisca dal maligno. 16 Essi non sono del mondo, come io non sono del mondo. 17 Consacrali nella verità. La tua parola è verità. 18 Come tu mi hai mandato nel mondo, anch'io li ho mandati nel mondo; 19 per loro io consacro me stesso, perché siano anch'essi consacrati nella verità.
20 Non prego solo per questi, ma anche per quelli che per la loro parola crederanno in me; 21 perché tutti siano una sola cosa. Come tu, Padre, sei in me e io in te, siano anch'essi in noi una cosa sola, perché il mondo creda che tu mi hai mandato.
22 E la gloria che tu hai dato a me, io l'ho data a loro, perché siano come noi una cosa sola. 23 Io in loro e tu in me, perché siano perfetti nell'unità e il mondo sappia che tu mi hai mandato e li hai amati come hai amato me.
24 Padre, voglio che anche quelli che mi hai dato siano con me dove sono io, perché contemplino la mia gloria, quella che mi hai dato; poiché tu mi hai amato prima della creazione del mondo.
25 Padre giusto, il mondo non ti ha conosciuto, ma io ti ho conosciuto; questi sanno che tu mi hai mandato. 26 E io ho fatto conoscere loro il tuo nome e lo farò conoscere, perché l'amore con il quale mi hai amato sia in essi e io in loro».

17 (A)Gesú disse queste cose; poi, alzati gli occhi al cielo, disse: «Padre, l'ora è venuta; glorifica tuo Figlio, affinché il Figlio glorifichi te, 2 giacché gli hai dato autorità su ogni carne, perché egli dia vita eterna a tutti quelli che tu gli hai dati. 3 Questa è la vita eterna: che conoscano te, il solo vero Dio, e colui che tu hai mandato, Gesú Cristo. 4 Io ti ho glorificato sulla terra, avendo compiuto l'opera che tu mi hai data da fare. 5 Ora, o Padre, glorificami tu presso di te della gloria che avevo presso di te prima che il mondo esistesse.
6 Io ho manifestato il tuo nome agli uomini che tu mi hai dati dal mondo; erano tuoi e tu me li hai dati; ed essi hanno osservato la tua parola. 7 Ora hanno conosciuto che tutte le cose che mi hai date, vengono da te; 8 poiché le parole che tu mi hai date le ho date a loro; ed essi le hanno ricevute e hanno veramente conosciuto che io sono proceduto da te, e hanno creduto che tu mi hai mandato. 9 Io prego per loro; non prego per il mondo, ma per quelli che tu mi hai dati, perché sono tuoi; 10 e tutte le cose mie sono tue, e le cose tue sono mie; e io sono glorificato in loro. 11 Io non sono piú nel mondo, ma essi sono nel mondo, e io vengo a te. Padre santo, conservali nel tuo nome, quelli che tu mi hai dati[a], affinché siano uno, come noi. 12 Mentre io ero con loro, io li conservavo nel tuo nome; quelli che tu mi hai dati, li ho anche custoditi, e nessuno di loro è perito, tranne il figlio di perdizione, affinché la Scrittura fosse adempiuta. 13 Ma ora io vengo a te; e dico queste cose nel mondo, affinché abbiano compiuta in sé stessi la mia gioia. 14 Io ho dato loro la tua parola; e il mondo li ha odiati, perché non sono del mondo, come io non sono del mondo. 15 Non prego che tu li tolga dal mondo, ma che tu li preservi dal maligno. 16 Essi non sono del mondo, come io non sono del mondo. 17 Santificali nella verità: la tua parola è verità. 18 Come tu hai mandato me nel mondo, anch'io ho mandato loro nel mondo. 19 Per loro io santifico me stesso, affinché anch'essi siano santificati nella verità.
20 Non prego soltanto per questi, ma anche per quelli che credono in me per mezzo della loro parola: 21 che siano tutti uno; e come tu, o Padre, sei in me e io sono in te, anch'essi siano in noi: affinché il mondo creda che tu mi hai mandato. 22 Io ho dato loro la gloria che tu hai data a me, affinché siano uno come noi siamo uno; 23 io in loro e tu in me; affinché siano perfetti nell'unità, e affinché il mondo conosca che tu mi hai mandato, e che li ami come hai amato me. 24 Padre, io voglio che dove sono io, siano con me anche quelli che tu mi hai dati, affinché vedano la mia gloria che tu mi hai data; poiché mi hai amato prima della fondazione del mondo. 25 Padre giusto, il mondo non ti ha conosciuto, ma io ti ho conosciuto; e questi hanno conosciuto che tu mi hai mandato; 26 e io ho fatto loro conoscere il tuo nome, e lo farò conoscere, affinché l'amore del quale tu mi hai amato sia in loro, e io in loro».

Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, 2 (B)as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He [a]should give eternal life to as many (C)as You have given Him. 3 And (D)this is eternal life, that they may know You, (E)the only true God, and Jesus Christ (F)whom You have sent. 4 (G)I have glorified You on the earth. (H)I have finished the work (I)which You have given Me to do. 5 And now, O Father, glorify Me together [b]with Yourself, with the glory (J)which I had with You before the world was.

9 “I pray for them. 20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who [j]will believe in Me through their word; 21 (AG)that they all may be one, as (AH)You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the (AI)glory which You gave Me I have given them, (AJ)that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; (AK)that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
24 (AL)“Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; (AM)for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. 25 O righteous Father! 17 Jesus falou essas coisas e, levantando os olhos ao céu, disse: Pai, é chegada a hora; glorifica a teu Filho, para que também o teu Filho te glorifique a ti, 2 assim como lhe deste poder sobre toda carne, para que dê a vida eterna a todos quantos lhe deste. 3 E a vida eterna é esta: que conheçam a ti só por único Deus verdadeiro e a Jesus Cristo, a quem enviaste. 4 Eu glorifiquei-te na terra, tendo consumado a obra que me deste a fazer. 5 E, agora, glorifica-me tu, ó Pai, junto de ti mesmo, com aquela glória que tinha contigo antes que o mundo existisse. 6 Manifestei o teu nome aos homens que do mundo me deste; eram teus, e tu mos deste, e guardaram a tua palavra. 7 Agora, já têm conhecido que tudo quanto me deste provém de ti, 8 porque lhes dei as palavras que me deste; e eles as receberam, e têm verdadeiramente conhecido que saí de ti, e creram que me enviaste. 9 Eu rogo por eles; não rogo pelo mundo, mas por aqueles que me deste, porque são teus. 10 E todas as minhas coisas são tuas, e as tuas coisas são minhas; e nisso sou glorificado. 11 E eu já não estou mais no mundo; mas eles estão no mundo, e eu vou para ti. Tenho guardado aqueles que tu me deste, e nenhum deles se perdeu, senão o filho da perdição, para que a Escritura se cumprisse. 13 Mas, agora, vou para ti e digo isto no mundo, para que tenham a minha alegria completa em si mesmos. 14 Dei-lhes a tua palavra, e o mundo os odiou, porque não são do mundo, assim como eu não sou do mundo. 15 Não peço que os tires do mundo, mas que os livres do mal. 16 Não são do mundo, como eu do mundo não sou. 17 Santifica-os na verdade; a tua palavra é a verdade. 18 Assim como tu me enviaste ao mundo, também eu os enviei ao mundo. 19 E por eles me santifico a mim mesmo, para que também eles sejam santificados na verdade. 20 Eu não rogo somente por estes, mas também por aqueles que, pela sua palavra, hão de crer em mim; 21 para que todos sejam um, como tu, ó Pai, o és em mim, e eu, em ti; que também eles sejam um em nós, para que o mundo creia que tu me enviaste. 22 E eu dei-lhes a glória que a mim me deste, para que sejam um, como nós somos um. 23 Eu neles, e tu em mim, para que eles sejam perfeitos em unidade, e para que o mundo conheça que tu me enviaste a mim e que tens amado a eles como me tens amado a mim. 24 Pai, aqueles que me deste quero que, onde eu estiver, também eles estejam comigo, para que vejam a minha glória que me deste; porque tu me hás amado antes da criação do mundo. 25 Pai justo, o mundo não te conheceu; mas eu te conheci, e estes conheceram que tu me enviaste a mim. 26 E eu lhes fiz conhecer o teu nome e lho farei conhecer mais, para que o amor com que me tens amado esteja neles, e eu neles esteja.
