24 Perché l'Onnipotente non si riserva i suoi tempi
e i suoi fedeli non vedono i suoi giorni?
2 I malvagi spostano i confini,
rubano le greggi e le menano al pascolo;
3 portano via l'asino degli orfani,
prendono in pegno il bue della vedova.
4 Spingono i poveri fuori strada,
tutti i miseri del paese vanno a nascondersi.
5 Eccoli, come ònagri nel deserto
escono per il lavoro;
di buon mattino vanno in cerca di vitto;
la steppa offre loro cibo per i figli.
6 Mietono nel campo non loro;
racimolano la vigna del malvagio.
7 Nudi passan la notte, senza panni,
non hanno da coprirsi contro il freddo.
8 Dagli scrosci dei monti sono bagnati,
per mancanza di rifugi si aggrappano alle rocce.
9 Rapiscono con violenza l'orfano
e prendono in pegno ciò che copre il povero.
10 Ignudi se ne vanno, senza vesti
e affamati portano i covoni.
11 Tra i filari frangono le olive,
pigiano l'uva e soffrono la sete.
12 Dalla città si alza il gemito dei moribondi
e l'anima dei feriti grida aiuto:
Dio non presta attenzione alle loro preghiere.
13 Altri odiano la luce,
non ne vogliono riconoscere le vie
né vogliono batterne i sentieri.
14 Quando non c'è luce, si alza l'omicida
per uccidere il misero e il povero;
nella notte si aggira il ladro
e si mette un velo sul volto.
15 L'occhio dell'adultero spia il buio
e pensa: «Nessun occhio mi osserva!».
16 Nelle tenebre forzano le case,
di giorno se ne stanno nascosti:
non vogliono saperne della luce;
17 l'alba è per tutti loro come spettro di morte;
quando schiarisce, provano i terrori del buio fondo.
18 Fuggono veloci di fronte al giorno;
maledetta è la loro porzione di campo sulla terra,
non si volgono più per la strada delle vigne.
19 Come siccità e calore assorbono le acque nevose,
così la morte rapisce il peccatore.
20 Il seno che l'ha portato lo dimentica,
i vermi ne fanno la loro delizia,
non se ne conserva la memoria
ed è troncata come un albero l'iniquità.
21 Egli maltratta la sterile che non genera
e non fa del bene alla vedova.
22 Ma egli con la sua forza trascina i potenti,
sorge quando più non può contare sulla vita.
23 Anche Dio gli concede sicurezza ed egli sta saldo,
ma i suoi occhi sono sopra la sua condotta.
24 Salgono in alto per un poco, poi non sono più,
sono buttati giù come tutti i mortali,
falciati come la testa di una spiga.
25 Non è forse così? Chi può smentirmi
e ridurre a nulla le mie parole?

24 (A)«Perché non sono
dall'Onnipotente fissati
dei tempi in cui renda la giustizia?
Perché quelli che lo conoscono non
vedono quei giorni?
2 Gli empi spostano i confini,
rapiscono greggi e le conducono al
pascolo;
3 portano via l'asino dell'orfano,
prendono in pegno il bue della vedova;
4 mandano via dalla strada i bisognosi,
i poveri del paese si nascondono tutti
insieme.
5 Eccoli, che come onagri del deserto
escono al loro lavoro in cerca di cibo;
solo il deserto dà pane ai loro figli.
6 Raccolgono nei campi la loro
pastura,
racimolano nella vigna dell'empio;
7 passano la notte nudi, senza vestito,
senza una coperta che li ripari dal
freddo.
8 Bagnati dagli acquazzoni di
montagna,
per mancanza di rifugi, si stringono alle rocce.
9 Ce n'è di quelli che strappano dalla mammella l'orfano,
che prendono pegni dai poveri!
10 E questi se ne vanno, nudi,
senza vestiti;
hanno fame, e portano i covoni.
11 Fanno l'olio nel recinto dell'empio;
calcano l'uva nel *tino e patiscono
la sete.
12 Sale dalle città il gemito dei
moribondi;
i feriti implorano aiuto,
e Dio non si cura di queste infamie!
13 Ce ne sono di quelli che si ribellano alla luce,
non ne conoscono le vie,
non ne battono i sentieri.
14 L'assassino si alza sul far
del giorno;
ammazza il misero e il povero;
e la notte fa il ladro.
15 L'occhio dell'adultero spia
il crepuscolo,
dicendo: “Nessuno mi vedrà!”
e si copre con un fazzoletto il volto.
16 I ladri, di notte, sfondano le case;
di giorno, si tengono rinchiusi;
non conoscono la luce.
17 Il mattino è per essi come ombra
di morte;
appena lo scorgono provano i terrori del buio.
18 Voi dite: “L'empio è un fuscello
sulla faccia delle acque;
la sua parte sulla terra è maledetta;
non prenderà piú la via delle vigne”.
19 Come la siccità e il calore
assorbono le acque della neve,
cosí il *soggiorno dei morti inghiotte
chi ha peccato.
20 Il grembo che lo portò,
lo dimentica;
i vermi ne fanno il loro pasto delizioso,
nessuno piú lo ricorda.
L'iniquo sarà troncato come un albero:
21 egli che divorava la sterile,
priva di figli,
e non faceva del bene alla vedova!
22 Invece, Dio con la sua forza
prolunga i giorni dei prepotenti,
i quali risorgono, quand'ormai
disperavano della vita.
23 Dà loro sicurezza, fiducia,
e i suoi occhi vegliano sul loro
cammino.
24 Salgono in alto, poi scompaiono
a un tratto;
cadono, sono mietuti come gli altri
mortali;
sono falciati come le spighe del grano maturo.
25 Se cosí non è, chi mi smentirà,
chi annienterà il mio dire?»

24 “Why does the Almighty not set times(A) for judgment?(B)
Why must those who know him look in vain for such days?(C)
2 There are those who move boundary stones;(D)
they pasture flocks they have stolen.(E)
3 They drive away the orphan’s donkey
and take the widow’s ox in pledge.(F)
4 They thrust the needy(G) from the path
and force all the poor(H) of the land into hiding.(I)
5 Like wild donkeys(J) in the desert,
the poor go about their labor(K) of foraging food;
the wasteland(L) provides food for their children.
6 They gather fodder(M) in the fields
and glean in the vineyards(N) of the wicked.(O)
7 Lacking clothes, they spend the night naked;
they have nothing to cover themselves in the cold.(P)
8 They are drenched(Q) by mountain rains
and hug(R) the rocks for lack of shelter.(S)
9 The fatherless(T) child is snatched(U) from the breast;
the infant of the poor is seized(V) for a debt.(W)
10 Lacking clothes, they go about naked;(X)
they carry the sheaves,(Y) but still go hungry.
11 They crush olives among the terraces[a];
they tread the winepresses,(Z) yet suffer thirst.(AA)
12 The groans of the dying rise from the city,
and the souls of the wounded cry out for help.(AB)
But God charges no one with wrongdoing.(AC)
13 “There are those who rebel against the light,(AD)
who do not know its ways
or stay in its paths.(AE)
14 When daylight is gone, the murderer rises up,
kills(AF) the poor and needy,(AG)
and in the night steals forth like a thief.(AH)
15 The eye of the adulterer(AI) watches for dusk;(AJ)
he thinks, ‘No eye will see me,’(AK)
and he keeps his face concealed.
16 In the dark, thieves break into houses,(AL)
but by day they shut themselves in;
they want nothing to do with the light.(AM)
17 For all of them, midnight is their morning;
they make friends with the terrors(AN) of darkness.(AO)
18 “Yet they are foam(AP) on the surface of the water;(AQ)
their portion of the land is cursed,(AR)
so that no one goes to the vineyards.(AS)
19 As heat and drought snatch away the melted snow,(AT)
so the grave(AU) snatches away those who have sinned.
20 The womb forgets them,
the worm(AV) feasts on them;(AW)
the wicked are no longer remembered(AX)
but are broken like a tree.(AY)
21 They prey on the barren and childless woman,
and to the widow they show no kindness.(AZ)
22 But God drags away the mighty by his power;(BA)
though they become established,(BB) they have no assurance of life.(BC)
23 He may let them rest in a feeling of security,(BD)
but his eyes(BE) are on their ways.(BF)
24 For a little while they are exalted, and then they are gone;(BG)
they are brought low and gathered up like all others;(BH)
they are cut off like heads of grain.(BI)
25 “If this is not so, who can prove me false
and reduce my words to nothing?”(BJ)

2 有 人 挪 移 地 界 ， 搶 奪 群 畜 而 牧 養 。
3 他 們 拉 去 孤 兒 的 驢 ， 強 取 寡 婦 的 牛 為 當 頭 。
4 他 們 使 窮 人 離 開 正 道 ； 世 上 的 貧 民 盡 都 隱 藏 。
5 這 些 貧 窮 人 如 同 野 驢 出 到 曠 野 ， 殷 勤 尋 找 食 物 ； 他 們 靠 著 野 地 給 兒 女 糊 口 ，
6 收 割 別 人 田 間 的 禾 稼 ， 摘 取 惡 人 餘 剩 的 葡 萄 ，

14 殺 人 的 黎 明 起 來 ， 殺 害 困 苦 窮 乏 人 ， 夜 間 又 作 盜 賊 。
15 姦 夫 等 候 黃 昏 ， 說 ： 必 無 眼 能 見 我 ， 就 把 臉 蒙 蔽 。
16 盜 賊 黑 夜 挖 窟 窿 ； 白 日 躲 藏 ， 並 不 認 識 光 明 。
17 他 們 看 早 晨 如 幽 暗 ， 因 為 他 們 曉 得 幽 暗 的 驚 駭 。
18 這 些 惡 人 猶 如 浮 萍 快 快 飄 去 。 他 們 所 得 的 分 在 世 上 被 咒 詛 ； 他 們 不 得 再 走 葡 萄 園 的 路 。
19 乾 旱 炎 熱 消 沒 雪 水 ； 陰 間 也 如 此 消 沒 犯 罪 之 輩 。
20 懷 他 的 母 （ 原 文 是 胎 ） 要 忘 記 他 ； 蟲 子 要 吃 他 ， 覺 得 甘 甜 ； 他 不 再 被 人 記 念 。 不 義 的 人 必 如 樹 折 斷 。
21 他 惡 待 （ 或 譯 ： 他 吞 滅 ） 不 懷 孕 不 生 養 的 婦 人 ， 不 善 待 寡 婦 。
22 然 而 神 用 能 力 保 全 有 勢 力 的 人 ； 那 性 命 難 保 的 人 仍 然 興 起 。
23 神 使 他 們 安 穩 ， 他 們 就 有 所 倚 靠 ； 神 的 眼 目 也 看 顧 他 們 的 道 路 。
24 他 們 被 高 舉 ， 不 過 片 時 就 沒 有 了 ； 他 們 降 為 卑 ， 被 除 滅 ， 與 眾 人 一 樣 ， 又 如 穀 穗 被 割 。
25 若 不 是 這 樣 ， 誰 能 證 實 我 是 說 謊 的 ， 將 我 的 言 語 駁 為 虛 空 呢 ？
