Các Dân Bị Phán Xét
3 “Nầy, trong những ngày đó và vào lúc ấy,
Ta sẽ phục hồi số phận của Giu-đa và Giê-ru-sa-lem.[a]
2 Ta sẽ nhóm họp mọi dân và đem chúng đến Thung Lũng Phán Xét,[b]
Ta sẽ phán xét chúng tại đó về tội đối với dân Ta và cơ nghiệp Ta,
Bởi vì chúng đã phân tán dân Ta ra các nước.
Chúng đã chia nhau xứ sở của Ta,
3 Và bốc thăm chia nhau dân Ta;
Chúng đã đổi những bé trai để lấy tiền ăn chơi với đĩ điếm,
Chúng đã bán những bé gái để lấy tiền uống rượu.
4 Hỡi Ty-rơ và Si-đôn, và hỡi các miền của Pa-lét-tin,
Các ngươi có ra gì trước mặt Ta chăng?
Các ngươi muốn báo trả Ta sao?
Nếu các ngươi muốn báo trả Ta,
Ta sẽ lập tức và nhanh chóng đổ lại trên đầu các ngươi những việc các ngươi làm,
5 Vì các ngươi đã lấy bạc của Ta và vàng của Ta,
Các ngươi đã lấy những bửu vật quý báu của Ta đem vào các đền thờ[c] của các ngươi.
6 Các ngươi đã bán dân Giu-đa và dân Giê-ru-sa-lem cho dân Hy-lạp,
Các ngươi đã đem dân Ta đi xa khỏi biên giới của chúng.
7 Nầy, Ta sẽ làm cho chúng trỗi dậy từ những nơi các ngươi đã bán chúng;
Ta sẽ báo trả trên đầu các ngươi những việc các ngươi đã làm;
8 Ta sẽ bán các con trai và các con gái các ngươi vào tay dân Giu-đa,
Rồi chúng sẽ bán lại những đứa đó cho dân Sa-biên, một dân ở rất xa,”
Vì Chúa đã phán.
Cuộc Ðoán Xét tại Thung Lũng Phán Xét
9 “Hãy rao báo điều nầy giữa các dân:
Hãy cử hành lễ xuất quân;
Hãy động viên tinh thần binh sĩ;
Hãy đem toàn quân đến gần,
Hãy để chúng tiến lên.
10 Hãy biến lưỡi cày thành lưỡi gươm,
Hãy rèn lưỡi liềm thành mũi giáo;
Hãy để kẻ yếu đuối nói rằng, ‘Ta là dũng sĩ.’
11 Hãy mau mau kéo đến,
Hỡi các dân các nước chung quanh,
Hãy tụ họp nhau về đó.”
Lạy Chúa, xin Ngài cũng sai các dũng sĩ của Ngài xuống đó.
12 “Hãy để các dân hò hét động viên nhau,
Rồi kéo nhau đến Thung Lũng Phán Xét;
Vì tại đó Ta sẽ ngồi xét đoán tất cả các nước chung quanh.”
13 Hãy tra lưỡi liềm vào, vì lúa đã chín vàng, sẵn sàng để gặt;
Hãy vào và đạp nho, vì nho đã đầy bồn ép.
Các vại đã đầy tràn, vì lòng gian ác của chúng quá lớn.
14 Từng đoàn hùng binh đông đúc, từng đoàn hùng binh đông đúc,
Cùng nhau kéo đến thung lũng chung thẩm!
Vì ngày của Chúa đã gần trong thung lũng chung thẩm.
15 Mặt trời và mặt trăng tối đen,
Các tinh tú thu hồi ánh sáng.
16 Từ Si-ôn Chúa đã gầm lên,
Từ Giê-ru-sa-lem tiếng Ngài vang dội khắp nơi,
Bấy giờ trời và đất đều rúng động.
Thế nhưng Chúa là nơi ẩn náu của con dân Ngài,
Một nơi trú ẩn an toàn cho dân I-sơ-ra-ên.

17 “Bấy giờ các ngươi sẽ biết rằng Ta là Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời của các ngươi,
Ðấng ngự tại Si-ôn, núi thánh của Ta.
Giê-ru-sa-lem sẽ là nơi thánh,
Quân ngoại xâm sẽ không đi qua đó nữa.
18 Trong ngày ấy,
Các rặng núi sẽ tiết ra nước nho ngon ngọt,
Các ngọn đồi sẽ chảy ra sữa tràn trề,
Các khe suối ở Giu-đa sẽ tuôn nước ra cuồn cuộn,
Và một mạch nước ngọt từ nhà Chúa sẽ chảy ra để tưới Thung Lũng Si-tim.
19 Ai-cập sẽ trở thành một nơi hoang tàn đổ nát,
Ê-đôm sẽ biến thành một đồng vắng hoang vu,
Vì những việc bạo tàn chúng đã làm đối với dân Giu-đa,
Bởi chúng đã làm đổ máu biết bao người vô tội trong xứ sở của họ.
20 Nhưng Giu-đa sẽ có người sống ở đó mãi mãi,
Và Giê-ru-sa-lem sẽ có người cư trú ở đó muôn đời.
21 Vì Ta sẽ báo thù cho máu của họ,
Ta sẽ không bỏ qua tội ác của những kẻ đã hại họ,
Vì Chúa ngự tại Si-ôn.”

The Nations Judged
3 [a]“In those days and at that time,
when I restore the fortunes(A) of Judah(B) and Jerusalem,
2 I will gather(C) all nations
and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat.[b](D)
There I will put them on trial(E)
for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel,
because they scattered(F) my people among the nations
and divided up my land.
3 They cast lots(G) for my people
and traded boys for prostitutes;
they sold girls for wine(H) to drink.
4 “Now what have you against me, Tyre and Sidon(I) and all you regions of Philistia?(J) Are you repaying me for something I have done? If you are paying me back, I will swiftly and speedily return on your own heads what you have done.(K) 5 For you took my silver and my gold and carried off my finest treasures to your temples.[c](L) 6 You sold the people of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks,(M) that you might send them far from their homeland.
7 “See, I am going to rouse them out of the places to which you sold them,(N) and I will return(O) on your own heads what you have done. 8 I will sell your sons(P) and daughters to the people of Judah,(Q) and they will sell them to the Sabeans,(R) a nation far away.” The Lord has spoken.(S)
9 Proclaim this among the nations:
Prepare for war!(T)
Rouse the warriors!(U)
Let all the fighting men draw near and attack.
10 Beat your plowshares into swords
and your pruning hooks(V) into spears.(W)
Let the weakling(X) say,
“I am strong!”(Y)
11 Come quickly, all you nations from every side,
and assemble(Z) there.
Bring down your warriors,(AA) Lord!
12 “Let the nations be roused;
let them advance into the Valley of Jehoshaphat,(AB)
for there I will sit
to judge(AC) all the nations on every side.
13 Swing the sickle,(AD)
for the harvest(AE) is ripe.
Come, trample the grapes,(AF)
for the winepress(AG) is full
and the vats overflow—
so great is their wickedness!”
14 Multitudes,(AH) multitudes
in the valley(AI) of decision!
For the day of the Lord(AJ) is near
in the valley of decision.(AK)
15 The sun and moon will be darkened,
and the stars no longer shine.(AL)
16 The Lord will roar(AM) from Zion
and thunder from Jerusalem;(AN)
the earth and the heavens will tremble.(AO)
But the Lord will be a refuge(AP) for his people,
a stronghold(AQ) for the people of Israel.
Blessings for God’s People
17 “Then you will know(AR) that I, the Lord your God,(AS)
dwell in Zion,(AT) my holy hill.(AU)
Jerusalem will be holy;(AV)
never again will foreigners invade her.(AW)
18 “In that day the mountains will drip new wine,(AX)
and the hills will flow with milk;(AY)
all the ravines of Judah will run with water.(AZ)
A fountain will flow out of the Lord’s house(BA)
and will water the valley of acacias.[d](BB)
19 But Egypt(BC) will be desolate,
Edom(BD) a desert waste,
because of violence(BE) done to the people of Judah,
in whose land they shed innocent blood.
20 Judah will be inhabited forever(BF)
and Jerusalem through all generations.
21 Shall I leave their innocent blood unavenged?(BG)
No, I will not.(BH)”

3 “For behold, (A)in those days and at that time,
When I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem,
2 (B)I will also gather all nations,
And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat;
And I (C)will enter into judgment with them there
On account of My people, My heritage Israel,
Whom they have scattered among the nations;
They have also divided up My land.
3 They have (D)cast lots for My people,
Have given a boy as payment for a harlot,
And sold a girl for wine, that they may drink.
4 “Indeed, what have you to do with Me,
(E)O Tyre and Sidon, and all the coasts of Philistia?
Will you [a]retaliate against Me?
But if you [b]retaliate against Me,
Swiftly and speedily I will return your [c]retaliation upon your own head;
5 Because you have taken My silver and My gold,
And have carried into your temples My [d]prized possessions.
6 Also the people of Judah and the people of Jerusalem
You have sold to the Greeks,
That you may remove them far from their borders.
7 “Behold, (F)I will raise them
Out of the place to which you have sold them,
And will return your [e]retaliation upon your own head.
8 I will sell your sons and your daughters
Into the hand of the people of Judah,
And they will sell them to the (G)Sabeans,[f]
To a people (H)far off;
For the Lord has spoken.”
9 (I)Proclaim this among the nations:

Let all the men of war draw near,
Let them come up.

Cause (L)Your mighty ones to go down there, O Lord.
12 “Let the nations be wakened, and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat;
For there I will sit to (M)judge all the surrounding nations.
13 (N)Put in the sickle, for (O)the harvest is ripe.
Come, go down;
For the (P)winepress is full,
The vats overflow—
For their wickedness is great.”
14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!
For (Q)the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.
15 The sun and moon will grow dark,
And the stars will diminish their brightness.
16 The Lord also will roar from Zion,
And utter His voice from Jerusalem;
The heavens and earth will shake;
(R)But the Lord will be a shelter for His people,
And the strength of the children of Israel.
17 “So you shall know that I am the Lord your God,
Dwelling in Zion My (S)holy mountain.
Then Jerusalem shall be holy,
And no aliens shall ever pass through her again.”
God Blesses His People
18 And it will come to pass in that day
That the mountains shall drip with new wine,
The hills shall flow with milk,
And all the brooks of Judah shall be flooded with water;
A (T)fountain shall flow from the house of the Lord
And water the Valley of [h]Acacias.
19 “Egypt shall be a desolation,
And Edom a desolate wilderness,
Because of violence against the people of Judah,
For they have shed innocent blood in their land.
20 But Judah shall abide forever,
And Jerusalem from generation to generation.
21 For I will (U)acquit them of the guilt of bloodshed, whom I had not acquitted;
For the Lord dwells in Zion.”

6 The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border.
7 Behold, I will raise them out of the place whither ye have sold them, and will return your recompence upon your own head:
8 And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a people far off: for the Lord hath spoken it.
9 Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:
10 Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.
11 Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O Lord.
12 Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.
13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great.
14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.
15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.
16 The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the Lord will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.
17 So shall ye know that I am the Lord your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.
18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth out of the house of the Lord, and shall water the valley of Shittim.
19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.
20 But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.
21 For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the Lord dwelleth in Zion.
