Ê-li-pha Cho Rằng Gióp Ðã Tự Kết Án Bằng Lời Nói của Mình
15 Bấy giờ Ê-li-pha người Tê-man đáp lời và nói:
2 Người khôn ngoan há trả lời bằng những lý lẽ vu vơ,
Bụng đầy ắp toàn gió đông nóng bỏng?
3 Chẳng lẽ người ấy lập luận bằng những lời vô bổ,
Hay bằng những diễn văn vô giá trị hay sao?
4 Nhưng anh đã làm cho người ta giảm đi lòng kính sợ Chúa;
Và cản trở người ta suy gẫm về Ðức Chúa Trời.
5 Vì tội lỗi anh xúi miệng anh đã nói,
Anh đã chọn cách nói năng của kẻ xảo quyệt điêu ngoa.
6 Chính miệng anh đã kết tội anh, chứ không phải tôi đâu nhé;
Phải, chính môi anh đã làm chứng chống lại anh.
7 Có phải anh là người đầu tiên sinh ra trên mặt đất?
Chẳng lẽ anh đã hiện hữu trước các núi đồi?
8 Không lẽ anh là người đã nghe khi Ðức Chúa Trời bàn luận?
Chẳng lẽ một mình anh mới có sự khôn ngoan?
9 Có điều gì anh biết mà chúng tôi không biết?
Có điều chi anh hiểu mà chúng tôi chẳng am tường?
10 Trong chúng tôi có người tóc đã bạc và cao niên trường thọ;
Có những người còn lớn tuổi hơn tuổi của cha anh.
11 Phải chăng anh cho sự an ủi của Ðức Chúa Trời dành cho anh quá ít?
Hay những lời nói dịu dàng chúng tôi đã nói với anh vẫn chưa đủ hay sao?
12 Sao anh để cho cái tôi của anh lôi anh theo ý riêng của nó,
Và để cho mắt anh cũng chớp mắt biểu lộ sự đồng tình,
13 Ðến nỗi tâm linh anh đã quay qua chống lại Ðức Chúa Trời,
Và làm cho miệng anh thốt ra những lời khó nghe như vậy?
14 Phàm nhân là gì mà tự cho mình trong sạch?
Kẻ do phụ nữ sinh ra là chi mà có thể ngay lành?
15 Này, các thánh của Ngài mà Ngài còn chưa tin cậy,
Ngay cả các tầng trời mà vẫn chưa tinh sạch trước mặt Ngài,
16 Huống chi là loài người đáng tởm và hư đốn,
Những kẻ cứ phạm tội thường xuyên như người ta uống nước.
17 Hãy nghe tôi nói, và tôi sẽ chỉ cho anh biết;
Tôi sẽ nói cho anh hay những gì tôi đã thấy tận mắt mình.
18 Những gì các nhà hiền triết đã nghe tổ tiên của họ kể lại;
Các vị ấy đã nói ra, không giấu giếm điều gì.
19 Họ là những người đầu tiên được ban cho đất đai làm xứ sở,
Lúc ấy chưa có người ngoại bang nào đi ngang qua giữa họ.
20 Kẻ gian ác phải đối phó với nỗi đau đớn suốt đời;
Số tuổi của đời nó cốt chỉ để bị người ta đàn áp.
21 Tai nó nghe văng vẳng những tiếng thét hãi hùng;
Trong khi nó bình an, quân cướp chợt xông vào cướp đoạt.
22 Nó không tin rằng nó sẽ thoát khỏi cảnh tối tăm;
Nó luôn lo sợ có ai đó đang cầm gươm chờ giết nó.
23 Nó đi khắp nơi tìm bánh, hỏi rằng, “Bánh đâu rồi?”
Nó biết những ngày đen tối của nó đã đến.
24 Tuyệt vọng và buồn thảm làm cho nó sợ hãi;
Chúng áp đảo nó, như một ông vua sắp ra lịnh tấn công.
25 Bởi vì nó dám cả gan đưa tay lên chống lại Ðức Chúa Trời;
Nó làm cho tay nó ra mạnh để chống lại Ðấng Toàn Năng.
26 Nó mang lấy thuẫn dày che thân,
Và bướng bỉnh xông vào tấn công Ngài.
27 Vì mỡ trên mặt nó khiến nó trông béo phì tròn trĩnh;
Hông nó phình ra do mỡ béo bao quanh.
28 Bây giờ nó phải sống trong các thành bị chiến tranh tàn phá,
Trong các nhà đã bị bỏ hoang, sắp trở thành các đống đổ nát.
29 Nó sẽ không giàu có nữa, và của cải nó sẽ không còn;
Tài sản nó sẽ không bành trướng khắp nơi trên đất.
30 Nó sẽ không thoát được cảnh tối tăm;
Một ngọn lửa sẽ làm khô héo các chồi non của nó;
Hơi thở của miệng Ngài sẽ đem đi những gì nó có.
31 Phải chi nó đừng tin cậy vào của cải phù vân mà tự dối mình;
Sự rỗng không sẽ là hậu quả của nó.
32 Chưa đến lúc mà cuộc đời của nó đã bị đổi thay gãy đổ;
Các cành của nó không còn tốt đẹp xanh tươi.
33 Nó sẽ như cây nho bị tuốt đi những trái xanh chưa chín;
Như cây ô-liu bị làm rụng hết hoa.
34 Thật vậy bọn vô tín vô luân sẽ không có người nối dõi;
Lửa sẽ thiêu rụi nhà cửa của phường ăn hối lộ.
35 Chúng đã mang thai gian ác, nên sinh ra đau khổ;
Lòng dạ chúng lúc nào cũng chực để dối gian.

15 Then Eliphaz the Temanite(A) replied:
2 “Would a wise person answer with empty notions
or fill their belly with the hot east wind?(B)
3 Would they argue with useless words,
with speeches that have no value?(C)
4 But you even undermine piety
and hinder devotion to God.(D)
5 Your sin(E) prompts your mouth;(F)
you adopt the tongue of the crafty.(G)
6 Your own mouth condemns you, not mine;
your own lips testify against you.(H)
7 “Are you the first man ever born?(I)
Were you brought forth before the hills?(J)
8 Do you listen in on God’s council?(K)
Do you have a monopoly on wisdom?(L)
9 What do you know that we do not know?
What insights do you have that we do not have?(M)
10 The gray-haired and the aged(N) are on our side,
men even older than your father.(O)
11 Are God’s consolations(P) not enough for you,
words(Q) spoken gently to you?(R)
12 Why has your heart(S) carried you away,
and why do your eyes flash,
13 so that you vent your rage(T) against God
and pour out such words(U) from your mouth?(V)
14 “What are mortals, that they could be pure,
or those born of woman,(W) that they could be righteous?(X)
15 If God places no trust in his holy ones,(Y)
if even the heavens are not pure in his eyes,(Z)
16 how much less mortals, who are vile and corrupt,(AA)
who drink up evil(AB) like water!(AC)
17 “Listen to me and I will explain to you;
let me tell you what I have seen,(AD)
18 what the wise have declared,
hiding nothing received from their ancestors(AE)
19 (to whom alone the land(AF) was given
when no foreigners moved among them):
20 All his days the wicked man suffers torment,(AG)
the ruthless man through all the years stored up for him.(AH)
21 Terrifying sounds fill his ears;(AI)
when all seems well, marauders attack him.(AJ)
22 He despairs of escaping the realm of darkness;(AK)
he is marked for the sword.(AL)
23 He wanders about(AM) for food like a vulture;(AN)
he knows the day of darkness(AO) is at hand.(AP)
24 Distress and anguish(AQ) fill him with terror;(AR)
troubles overwhelm him, like a king(AS) poised to attack,
25 because he shakes his fist(AT) at God
and vaunts himself against the Almighty,(AU)
26 defiantly charging against him
with a thick, strong shield.(AV)
27 “Though his face is covered with fat
and his waist bulges with flesh,(AW)
28 he will inhabit ruined towns
and houses where no one lives,(AX)
houses crumbling to rubble.(AY)
29 He will no longer be rich and his wealth will not endure,(AZ)
nor will his possessions spread over the land.(BA)
30 He will not escape the darkness;(BB)
a flame(BC) will wither his shoots,(BD)
and the breath of God’s mouth(BE) will carry him away.(BF)
31 Let him not deceive(BG) himself by trusting what is worthless,(BH)
for he will get nothing in return.(BI)
32 Before his time(BJ) he will wither,(BK)
and his branches will not flourish.(BL)
33 He will be like a vine stripped of its unripe grapes,(BM)
like an olive tree shedding its blossoms.(BN)
34 For the company of the godless(BO) will be barren,
and fire will consume(BP) the tents of those who love bribes.(BQ)
35 They conceive trouble(BR) and give birth to evil;(BS)
their womb fashions deceit.”

2 Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?
3 Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?
4 Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.
5 For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
6 Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.
7 Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?
8 Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
9 What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?
10 With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.
11 Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?
12 Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,
13 That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?
14 What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
15 Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.
16 How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?
17 I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;
18 Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:
19 Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.
20 The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.
21 A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
22 He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.
23 He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
24 Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.
25 For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.
26 He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
27 Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.
28 And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.
29 He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.
30 He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.
31 Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.
32 It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.
33 He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.
34 For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
35 They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.

15 提幔人以利法回答说： 2 “智慧人岂可用虚空的知识回答，用东风充满肚腹呢？ 3 他岂可用无益的话和无济于事的言语理论呢？ 4 你是废弃敬畏的意，在神面前阻止敬虔的心。 5 你的罪孽指教你的口，你选用诡诈人的舌头。 6 你自己的口定你有罪，并非是我，你自己的嘴见证你的不是。
7 “你岂是头一个被生的人吗？你受造在诸山之先吗？ 8 你曾听见神的密旨吗？你还将智慧独自得尽吗？ 9 你知道什么是我们不知道的呢？你明白什么是我们不明白的呢？ 10 我们这里有白发的和年纪老迈的，比你父亲还老。 11 神用温和的话安慰你，你以为太小吗？ 12 你的心为何将你逼去，你的眼为何冒出火星， 13 使你的灵反对神，也任你的口发这言语？ 14 人是什么，竟算为洁净呢？妇人所生的是什么，竟算为义呢？ 15 神不信靠他的众圣者，在他眼前天也不洁净， 16 何况那污秽可憎、喝罪孽如水的世人呢？

15 Then (A)Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said:
2 “Should a wise man answer with empty knowledge,

4 Yes, you cast off fear,
