Genesis 15:2-7

² But Abram said, “Lord ^[a]God, what will You give me, since I ^[b]am childless, and the ^[c]heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” ³ Abram also said, “^[d]Since You have given me no ^[e]son, ^[f]one who has been ^(A)born in my house is my heir.” ⁴ Then behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This man will not be your heir; ^(B)but one who will come from your own ^[g]body shall be your heir.” ⁵ And He took him outside and said, “Now look toward the heavens and ^(C)count the stars, if you are able to count them.” And He said to him, “^(D)So shall your ^[h]descendants be.” ^6 (E)Then he believed in the Lord; and He ^[i]credited it to him as righteousness. ⁷ And He said to him, “I am the Lord who brought you out of ^(F)Ur of the Chaldeans, to ^(G)give you this land to ^[j]possess it.”
