⁸ Noah, however, found favor in the sight of the Lord.^(A)

³ Then he said, “My lord,^[a] if I have found favor in your sight, please do not go on past your servant.

¹² Moses said to the Lord, “Look, You have told me, ‘Lead this people up,’ but You have not let me know whom You will send with me. You said, ‘I know you by name,^(A) and you have also found favor in My sight.’ ¹³ Now if I have indeed found favor in Your sight, please teach me Your ways,^(B) and I will know You and find favor in Your sight. Now consider that this nation is Your people.”^(C)

² Ruth the Moabitess asked Naomi, “Will you let me go into the fields and gather fallen grain^(A) behind someone who allows me to?”

Naomi answered her, “Go ahead, my daughter.”

¹⁰ She bowed with her face to the ground^(A) and said to him, “Why are you so kind to notice me, although I am a foreigner?”

¹³ “My lord,” she said, “you have been so kind to me, for you have comforted and encouraged^[a] your slave, although I am not like one of your female servants.”

⁸ If the king approves of me^[a] and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and perform my request,^(A) may the king and Haman come to the banquet I will prepare for them.^(B) Tomorrow I will do what the king has asked.”

³ Queen Esther answered, “If I have obtained your approval,^[a] my king, and if the king is pleased,^(A) spare my life—this is my request; and spare my people—this is my desire.^(B)
