²Joseph instructed the physicians in his service^[a] to embalm his father, so the physicians embalmed Israel.

Genesis 50:3

³They took forty days, for that is the full time needed for embalming.^[a] The Egyptians mourned for^[b] him seventy days.^[c]

Genesis 50:3 sn Seventy days. This probably refers to a time of national mourning.

²⁶So Joseph died at the age of 110. After^[a] they embalmed him, his body^[b] was placed in a coffin in Egypt.
