Genesis 49
King James Version
49 And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.
2 Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.
3 Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:
4 Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.
5 Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations.
6 O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.
7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
8 Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee.
9 Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
13 Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.
14 Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:
15 And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.
16 Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.
17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.
18 I have waited for thy salvation, O Lord.
19 Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.
20 Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.
21 Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.
22 Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:
23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
25 Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
26 The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
27 Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.
28 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.
29 And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
30 In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.
31 There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.
32 The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the children of Heth.
33 And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.

49 Gia-cốp triệu tập các con và bảo: “Hãy tập hợp quanh cha để cha nói cho các con biết những gì sẽ xảy đến cho các con trong tương lai.
2 Hỡi các con trai Gia-cốp, hãy tập họp mà nghe.
Hãy nghe lời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, cha các con:
3 Ru-bên, con trưởng nam của cha;
Sức mạnh và dấu hiệu đầu tiên của năng lực cha.
Con được vinh dự cao cả và quyền năng tuyệt hảo;
4 Con hỗn loạn như nước nên sẽ chẳng còn trổi hơn ai;
Vì con đã lên giường cha,
Lên chõng cha mà làm hoen ố.
5 Si-mê-ôn và Lê-vi là anh em ruột;
Lưỡi gươm của chúng là khí giới tàn bạo.
6 Cầu cho tâm hồn cha đừng tham gia mưu nghị của chúng.
Vinh quang cha không hợp cùng phe chúng.
Vì chúng đã giết người trong cơn giận dữ;
Và cắt gân chân bò đực theo sở thích,
7 Cơn giận chúng đáng rủa sả vì thật hung tàn;
Thạnh nộ chúng thật dữ dằn.
Ta sẽ làm cho chúng tản lạc trong nhà Gia-cốp,
Và phân tán chúng giữa Y-sơ-ra-ên.
8 Giu-đa ơi, các anh em sẽ khen ngợi con.
Tay con sẽ nắm cổ quân thù;
Các con trai cha sẽ cúi đầu trước mặt con.
9 Giu-đa ơi, con là một sư tử tơ.
Con ta ơi, con bắt được mồi rồi quay về,
Nó thu gối nằm xuống như sư tử đực,
Như sư tử cái, ai dám chọc nó?
10 Cây trượng sẽ không rời khỏi Giu-đa;
Gậy chỉ huy cũng không ra khỏi hai chân nó,
Cho đến khi người đến Si-lô,
Và các dân tộc vâng phục người.
11 Người về buộc con lừa mình vào cây nho,
Và lừa con mình vào cành tươi tốt nhất;
Người sẽ giặt y phục mình trong rượu nho,
Và áo dài mình trong huyết nho.
12 Mắt người đậm hơn rượu nho,
Và răng người trắng hơn sữa.
13 Sa-bu-luân sẽ sống ở miền duyên hải,
Và trở thành nơi các tàu ẩn trú.
Bờ cõi người chạy hướng Si-đôn.
14 Y-sa-ca là một con lừa mạnh mẽ,
Nằm xuống giữa chuồng.
15 Khi người thấy nơi mình nghỉ ngơi thật thoải mái,
Và đất đai thật tốt đẹp;
Người sẽ ghé vai mang gánh nặng,
Và chịu làm sưu dịch.
16 Đan sẽ xét xử dân tộc mình.
Như các bộ tộc khác của Y-sơ-ra-ên.
17 Đan sẽ là con rắn nằm bên đường;
Con rắn hổ nằm dọc đường mòn,
Cắn gót chân ngựa
Làm người cưỡi té ngửa ra sau.
18 Lạy CHÚA, con trông mong sự giải cứu của Ngài!
19 Gát sẽ bị một nhóm người xông đánh,
Nhưng người sẽ phản công và đuổi theo chúng.
20 A-se có thực phẩm dồi dào,
Cung cấp cao lương mỹ vị cho nhà vua.
21 Nép-ta-li là một con sơn dương được phóng thích,
Nói những lời văn hoa.
22 Giô-sép là một cây nho sai trái;
Một cây nho trồng gần suối nước,
Nhánh leo lên tường.
23 Các xạ thủ dữ dội tấn công người,
Bắn tên vào người cách thù hận.
24 Nhưng nhờ tay Đấng Toàn Năng của Gia-cốp,
Nhờ Đấng chăn chiên, vầng đá của Y-sơ-ra-ên,
Nên cung người vẫn vững chắc
Và cánh tay người vẫn mạnh mẽ.
25 Nhờ Đức Chúa Trời của cha giúp đỡ con,
Nhờ Đấng Toàn Năng ban phước cho con,
Với phước lành từ các từng trời sa xuống,
Và phước lành từ vực thẳm dâng lên,
Phước lành của vú và dạ con của mẹ,
26 Phước lành cha chúc cho con,
Lớn hơn các phước lành của núi cổ
Và của đồi xưa.
Nguyện các phước ấy ở trên đầu của Giô-sép,
Nơi trán của ông hoàng giữa các anh em mình.
27 Bên-gia-min là một con chó sói ưa cấu xé.
Buổi sáng đi cắn nuốt mồi;
Buổi tối phân chia mồi cướp được.”
28 Các người đó là mười hai tộc trưởng của Y-sơ-ra-ên, và đó là những lời cha họ đã nói khi chúc phước cho họ, mỗi người được một lời chúc thích hợp cho mình.
Gia-cốp Qua Đời
29 Gia-cốp ra lệnh cho các con: “Cha sắp được tiếp về với tổ tông. Các con hãy chôn cha chung với các tổ phụ nơi hang đá trong cánh đồng Ếp-rôn, người Hê-tít, 30 tức hang đá trong đồng ruộng của Mặc-bê-la, gần Mam-rê trong xứ Ca-na-an, mà Áp-ra-ham đã mua của Hếp-rôn, người Hê-tít làm mộ địa cùng với cả cánh đồng. 31 Áp-ra-ham và Sa-ra, vợ người đã được an táng tại đó. Y-sác và Rê-bê-ca, vợ người cũng được an táng nơi này. Cha cũng đã chôn Lê-a tại đó.” 32 Đồng ruộng và hang đá ở đó đã được mua của người Hếch.
33 Sau khi trối xong những lời đó cho các con trai, Gia-cốp co chân mình lên giường rồi tắt hơi và được rước về với tổ tông.

Jacob’s Last Words to His Sons
49 And Jacob called his sons and said, “Gather together, that I may (A)tell you what shall befall you (B)in the last days:
2 “Gather together and hear, you sons of Jacob,
And listen to Israel your father.
3 “Reuben, you are (C)my firstborn,
My might and the beginning of my strength,
The excellency of dignity and the excellency of power.
4 Unstable as water, you shall not excel,
Because you (D)went up to your father’s bed;
Then you defiled it—
He went up to my couch.
5 “Simeon and Levi are brothers;
Instruments of [a]cruelty are in their dwelling place.
6 (E)Let not my soul enter their council;
Let not my honor be united (F)to their assembly;
(G)For in their anger they slew a man,
And in their self-will they [b]hamstrung an ox.
7 Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce;
And their wrath, for it is cruel!
(H)I will divide them in Jacob
And scatter them in Israel.
8 “Judah,(I) you are he whom your brothers shall praise;
(J)Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies;
(K)Your father’s children shall bow down before you.

From the prey, my son, you have gone up.

And as a lion, who shall rouse him?

And his donkey’s colt to the choice vine,

And his teeth whiter than milk.
13 “Zebulun(R) shall dwell by the haven of the sea;
He shall become a haven for ships,
And his border shall (S)adjoin Sidon.
14 “Issachar(T) is a strong donkey,
Lying down between two burdens;
15 He saw that rest was good,
And that the land was pleasant;
He bowed (U)his shoulder to bear a burden,
And became a band of slaves.
16 “Dan(V) shall judge his people
As one of the tribes of Israel.
17 (W)Dan shall be a serpent by the way,
A viper by the path,
That bites the horse’s heels
So that its rider shall fall backward.
18 (X)I have waited for your salvation, O Lord!
20 “Bread from (Z)Asher shall be rich,
And he shall yield royal dainties.
21 “Naphtali(AA) is a deer let loose;
He uses beautiful words.
22 “Joseph is a fruitful bough,
A fruitful bough by a well;
His branches run over the wall.
23 The archers have (AB)bitterly grieved him,
Shot at him and hated him.
24 But his (AC)bow remained in strength,
And the arms of his hands were [g]made strong
By the hands of (AD)the Mighty God of Jacob

25 (AH)By the God of your father who will help you,

Jacob’s Death and Burial
29 Then he charged them and said to them: “I (AO)am to be gathered to my people; (AP)bury me with my fathers (AQ)in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite, 30 in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre in the land of Canaan, (AR)which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite as a possession for a burial place. 31 (AS)There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife, (AT)there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife, and there I buried Leah. 32 The field and the cave that is there were purchased from the sons of Heth.” 33 And when Jacob had finished commanding his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed and breathed his last, and was gathered to his people.
