²⁴ But his bow remained steady,^(A)
    his strong arms^(B) stayed^[a] limber,
because of the hand of the Mighty One of Jacob,^(C)
    because of the Shepherd,^(D) the Rock of Israel,^(E)

² He swore an oath to the Lord,
    he made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:^(A)

“See, I lay a stone in Zion,^(A) a tested stone,^(B)
    a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation;^(C)
the one who relies on it
    will never be stricken with panic.^(D)

⁵ till I find a place^(A) for the Lord,
    a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

³⁰ As for God, his way is perfect:^(A)
    The Lord’s word is flawless;^(B)
    he shields^(C) all who take refuge^(D) in him.

²⁰ My glory will not fade;^(A)
    the bow^(B) will be ever new in my hand.’^(C)

“See, I lay a stone in Zion,

and the one who trusts in him
    will never be put to shame.”^[b](H)

    has become the cornerstone,”^[c](K)

“A stone that causes people to stumble
