Genesis 48:12-14
Common English Bible
12 Then Joseph took them from Israel’s knees, and he bowed low with his face to the ground. 13 Joseph took both of them, Ephraim in his right hand at Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand at Israel’s right hand, and brought them close to him. 14 But Israel put out his right hand and placed it on the head of Ephraim, the younger one, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, crossing his hands because Manasseh was the oldest son.

12 Then Joseph removed them from Israel’s knees(A) and bowed down with his face to the ground.(B) 13 And Joseph took both of them, Ephraim on his right toward Israel’s left hand and Manasseh on his left toward Israel’s right hand,(C) and brought them close to him. 14 But Israel(D) reached out his right hand and put it on Ephraim’s head,(E) though he was the younger,(F) and crossing his arms, he put his left hand on Manasseh’s head, even though Manasseh was the firstborn.(G)

14 And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.
