Jakob reist naar Egypte
46 Israël laadde alles wat hij had op de wagens en reisde naar Berseba. Daar bracht hij offers voor de God van zijn vader Izaäk. 2 En God sprak 's nachts tegen Israël in dromen. Hij zei: "Jakob! Jakob!" En hij zei: "Ja, Heer." 3 Toen zei God: "Ik ben God, de God van je vader. Wees niet bang om naar Egypte te reizen. Want Ik zal je daar tot een groot volk maken. 4 Ik zal Zelf met je meegaan naar Egypte. Ik zal je óók weer terugbrengen. En wanneer je sterft, zal Jozef bij je zijn." 5 Toen vertrok Jakob uit Berseba. Zijn zonen namen hun vader, hun vrouwen en hun kinderen mee op de wagens die de farao had meegegeven. 6 Ook al hun vee en alles wat ze bezaten namen ze mee. Zo kwam Jakob met zijn kinderen en kleinkinderen in Egypte. 7 Jakob bracht zijn hele familie mee naar Egypte: zijn zonen en kleinzonen, zijn dochters en kleindochters.
De familie van Jakob
8 Dit zijn de namen van de zonen van Israël die naar Egypte kwamen.
Jakobs oudste zoon Ruben, 9 met zijn zonen Henoch, Pallu, Hezron en Karmi.
10 Simeon, met zijn zonen Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar en Saul. Saul was de zoon van een vrouw uit Kanaän.
11 Levi, met zijn zonen Gerson, Kehat en Merari.
12 Juda, met zijn zonen Er, Onan, Sela, Perez en Zera. Maar Er en Onan waren in Kanaän al gestorven. Perez had twee zonen: Hezron en Hamul.
13 Issaschar, met zijn zonen Tola, Pua, Job en Simron.
14 Zebulon, met zijn zonen Sered, Elon en Jahleël.
15 Dit waren de zonen die Lea in Paddan-Aram hadden gekregen. Verder haar dochter Dina. In totaal had Lea 33 kinderen en kleinkinderen.
16 Verder Gad, met zijn zonen Zifjon, Haggi, Suni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi en Areli.
17 Aser, met zijn zonen Jimna, Jisva, Jisvi en Beria en zijn dochter Sera. Beria had twee zonen: Heber en Malkiël.
18 Dit waren de zonen van Zilpa. (Zilpa was de slavin die Laban aan zijn dochter Lea had gegeven.) In totaal had Zilpa 16 kinderen en kleinkinderen.
19 Verder de zonen van Rachel, de vrouw van Jakob: Jozef en Benjamin.
20 Jozef kreeg twee zonen in Egypte: Manasse en Efraïm. Hun moeder was Asnat, de dochter van Potifera, de priester van On.
21 De zonen van Benjamin waren Bela, Becher, Asbel, Gera, Naäman, Ehi, Ros, Muppim, Huppim en Ard.
22 Dit waren de zonen van Rachel. In totaal had Rachel 14 kinderen en kleinkinderen.
23 Verder Dan, met zijn zoon Husim.
24 Naftali, met zijn zonen Jahzeël, Guni, Jezer en Sillem.
25 Dat waren de zonen van Bilha. (Bilha was de slavin die Laban aan zijn dochter Rachel gegeven had.) In totaal had Bilha zeven kinderen en kleinkinderen.
26 De hele familie van Jakob die met hem naar Egypte kwam (de vrouwen van Jakobs zonen niet meegeteld), bestond uit 66 mensen. 27 Jozef had in Egypte twee zonen gekregen. Zo bestond de familie van Jakob in totaal uit 70 mensen.
Jozef ontmoet zijn vader weer
28 Jakob stuurde Juda voor zich uit naar Jozef om hem te zeggen dat ze al vlak bij Gosen waren. 29 Zo kwamen ze in Gosen. Jozef reed met zijn paard en wagen ook naar Gosen, zijn vader Israël tegemoet. Toen hij hem zag, viel hij hem huilend om de hals. Lange tijd omhelsden ze elkaar. 30 Toen zei Israël tegen Jozef: "Nu ik je weer heb gezien en weet dat je nog leeft, kan ik rustig sterven."
31 Jozef zei tegen zijn familie: "Ik zal de farao vertellen: 'Mijn broers en de hele familie van mijn vader zijn uit Kanaän naar mij toe gekomen. 32 Die mannen zijn schaapherders, want ze zijn veehouders. Ze hebben hun schapen, geiten, koeien en alles wat ze hebben, meegebracht.' 33 De farao zal jullie misschien laten komen en vragen wat jullie beroep is. 34 Dan moeten jullie zeggen: 'We zijn al ons hele leven schaapherders. Dat waren onze voorvaders ook.' Dan zullen jullie in de streek Gosen mogen wonen. Want Egyptenaren willen niet met schaapherders omgaan: ze vinden hen walgelijk."

Thượng Đế trấn an Gia-cốp
46 Vì thế Ít-ra-en thu góp tài sản mình và lên đường. Ông đến Bê-e-sê-ba và dâng của lễ cho Thượng Đế của Y-sác, cha mình. 2 Ban đêm Thượng Đế nói chuyện với Ít-ra-en trong mộng rằng, “Gia-cốp, Gia-cốp.”
Gia-cốp thưa, “Dạ.”
3 Thượng Đế phán, “Ta là Thượng Đế, Thượng Đế của cha con. Đừng sợ khi đi xuống Ai-cập, vì ta sẽ khiến cho dòng dõi con trở thành một dân đông ở đó. 4 Ta sẽ cùng đi xuống Ai-cập với con và sẽ mang con từ Ai-cập trở về. Tay của Giô-xép sẽ vuốt mắt con nhắm lại khi qua đời.”

5 Rồi Gia-cốp rời Bê-e-sê-ba. Các con trai của Ít-ra-en đỡ cha mình và vợ con họ lên các xe mà vua Ai-cập gởi đến. 6 Họ cũng mang theo các gia súc và tài sản họ có ở Ca-na-an. Vậy Gia-cốp đi xuống Ai-cập cùng với con cháu mình 7 gồm các con trai, cháu trai, các con gái và cháu gái. Ông mang tất cả gia đình xuống Ai-cập.

8 Sau đây là tên các con Ít-ra-en cùng đi xuống Ai-cập (tức Gia-cốp và các con cháu).
Ru-bên là con trưởng nam của Gia-cốp. 9 Các con trai của Ru-bên là Ha-nóc, Pha-lu, Hết-rôn, và Cạt-mi.
10 Các con trai của Xi-mê-ôn là Giê-mu-ên, Gia-min, Ô-hát, Gia-kin, Xô-ha và Sa-un (người nầy là con của Xi-mê-ôn, do một người đàn bà Ca-na-an sinh ra).
11 Các con trai của Lê-vi là Ghẹt-sôn, Cô-hát và Me-ra-ri.
12 Các con trai của Giu-đa là Ê-rơ, Ô-nan, Sê-la, Phê-rê và Xê-ra (nhưng Ê-rơ và Ô-nan đã qua đời trong xứ Ca-na-an). Các con trai của Phê-rê là Hết-rôn và Ha-mun.
13 Các con trai của Y-xa-ca là Tô-la, Phu-a, Gia-súp, và Sim-rôn.
14 Các con trai của Xê-bu-lôn là Sê-rết, Ê-lôn, và Gia-lê-ên.

22 Đó là các con cháu sinh ra qua Ra-chên, vợ Gia-cốp. Nhánh nầy của gia đình Gia-cốp có tất cả là mười bốn người.
23 Con trai của Đan là Hu-sim.
24 Các con trai của Nép-ta-li là Gia-xi-ên, Gu-ni, Ghê-xe, và Si-lem.
25 Đó là các con trai sinh ra bởi Bi-la, người nữ tì mà La-ban cho Ra-chên, con gái mình. Nhánh nầy có bảy người thuộc gia đình Gia-cốp.

28 Gia-cốp sai Giu-đa đi trước để gặp Giô-xép ở Gô-sen. Khi Gia-cốp và những người đi theo đến Gô-sen 29 thì Giô-xép chuẩn bị xe đi xuống đón cha mình là Ít-ra-en ở Gô-sen. Khi Giô-xép vừa thấy cha mình, ông ôm chầm lấy cha và khóc thật lâu.
30 Ít-ra-en bảo Giô-xép, “Bây giờ cha có chết cũng vui lòng vì cha đã thấy mặt con và biết con vẫn còn sống.”
31 Giô-xép nói với các anh em và gia đình cha mình rằng, “Tôi sẽ đi báo cho vua hay là gia đình mình đã đến đây. Tôi sẽ nói, ‘Các anh em và gia đình tôi đã rời xứ Ca-na-an đến đây với tôi. 32 Họ làm nghề chăn chiên và nuôi gia súc. Họ có mang theo các bầy gia súc và tài sản.’ 33 Khi gọi các anh, vua sẽ hỏi, ‘Các anh làm nghề gì?’ 34 Thì phải trả lời như sau: ‘Kẻ tôi tớ vua suốt đời làm nghề chăn nuôi gia súc. Tổ tiên chúng tôi cũng vậy.’ Như thế vua sẽ cho các anh em định cư ở đất Gô-sen, cách xa khỏi người Ai-cập vì dân Ai-cập không thích ở gần những người chăn chiên.”

Jacob Goes to Egypt
46 So Israel(A) set out with all that was his, and when he reached Beersheba,(B) he offered sacrifices(C) to the God of his father Isaac.(D)
2 And God spoke to Israel(E) in a vision at night(F) and said, “Jacob! Jacob!”
“Here I am,”(G) he replied.
3 “I am God, the God of your father,”(H) he said. “Do not be afraid(I) to go down to Egypt,(J) for I will make you into a great nation(K) there.(L) 4 I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again.(M) And Joseph’s own hand will close your eyes.(N)”
5 Then Jacob left Beersheba,(O) and Israel’s(P) sons took their father Jacob and their children and their wives in the carts(Q) that Pharaoh had sent to transport him. 6 So Jacob and all his offspring went to Egypt,(R) taking with them their livestock and the possessions(S) they had acquired(T) in Canaan. 7 Jacob brought with him to Egypt(U) his sons and grandsons and his daughters and granddaughters—all his offspring.(V)
8 These are the names of the sons of Israel(W) (Jacob and his descendants) who went to Egypt:
Reuben the firstborn(X) of Jacob.
9 The sons of Reuben:(Y)
Hanok, Pallu,(Z) Hezron and Karmi.(AA)
10 The sons of Simeon:(AB)
Jemuel,(AC) Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar(AD) and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman.
11 The sons of Levi:(AE)
Gershon,(AF) Kohath(AG) and Merari.(AH)
12 The sons of Judah:(AI)

16 The sons of Gad:(AW)
Zephon,[d](AX) Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi and Areli.
17 The sons of Asher:(AY)
Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi and Beriah.
Their sister was Serah.
The sons of Beriah:

18 These were the children born to Jacob by Zilpah,(AZ) whom Laban had given to his daughter Leah(BA)—sixteen in all.
19 The sons of Jacob’s wife Rachel:(BB)
Joseph and Benjamin.(BC) 20 In Egypt, Manasseh(BD) and Ephraim(BE) were born to Joseph(BF) by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On.[e](BG)

26 All those who went to Egypt with Jacob—those who were his direct descendants, not counting his sons’ wives—numbered sixty-six persons.(BP) 27 With the two sons[f] who had been born to Joseph in Egypt,(BQ) the members of Jacob’s family, which went to Egypt, were seventy[g] in all.(BR)
28 Now Jacob sent Judah(BS) ahead of him to Joseph to get directions to Goshen.(BT) When they arrived in the region of Goshen, 29 Joseph had his chariot(BU) made ready and went to Goshen to meet his father Israel.(BV) As soon as Joseph appeared before him, he threw his arms around his father[h] and wept(BW) for a long time.(BX)
30 Israel(BY) said to Joseph, “Now I am ready to die, since I have seen for myself that you are still alive.”(BZ)
31 Then Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “I will go up and speak to Pharaoh and will say to him, ‘My brothers and my father’s household, who were living in the land of Canaan,(CA) have come to me.(CB) 32 The men are shepherds;(CC) they tend livestock,(CD) and they have brought along their flocks and herds and everything they own.’(CE) 33 When Pharaoh calls you in and asks, ‘What is your occupation?’(CF) 34 you should answer, ‘Your servants(CG) have tended livestock from our boyhood on, just as our fathers did.’(CH) Then you will be allowed to settle(CI) in the region of Goshen,(CJ) for all shepherds are detestable to the Egyptians.(CK)”

46 And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices unto the God of his father Isaac.
2 And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.
3 And he said, I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation:
4 I will go down with thee into Egypt; and I will also surely bring thee up again: and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes.
5 And Jacob rose up from Beersheba: and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.
6 And they took their cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him:
7 His sons, and his sons' sons with him, his daughters, and his sons' daughters, and all his seed brought he with him into Egypt.
8 And these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob's firstborn.

19 The sons of Rachel Jacob's wife; Joseph, and Benjamin.
20 And unto Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him.
21 And the sons of Benjamin were Belah, and Becher, and Ashbel, Gera, and Naaman, Ehi, and Rosh, Muppim, and Huppim, and Ard.
22 These are the sons of Rachel, which were born to Jacob: all the souls were fourteen.

24 And the sons of Naphtali; Jahzeel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shillem.
25 These are the sons of Bilhah, which Laban gave unto Rachel his daughter, and she bare these unto Jacob: all the souls were seven.
26 All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob's sons' wives, all the souls were threescore and six;
27 And the sons of Joseph, which were born him in Egypt, were two souls: all the souls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt, were threescore and ten.
28 And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.
29 And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.
30 And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive.
31 And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father's house, I will go up, and shew Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father's house, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me;
32 And the men are shepherds, for their trade hath been to feed cattle; and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.
33 And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What is your occupation?
34 That ye shall say, Thy servants' trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.
