46 At si Israel ay naglakbay na dala ang lahat niyang tinatangkilik, at napasa Beerseba, at naghandog ng mga hain sa Dios ng kaniyang amang si Isaac.

At kinausap ng Dios si Israel sa mga panaginip sa gabi, at sinabi, Jacob, Jacob. At sinabi niya, Narito ako:

At kaniyang sinabi, Ako'y Dios, ang Dios ng iyong ama, huwag kang matakot na bumaba sa Egipto: sapagka't doo'y gagawin kitang isang dakilang bansa:

Ako'y bababang kasama mo sa Egipto; at tunay na iaahon kita uli, at ipapatong ni Jose ang kaniyang kamay sa iyong mga mata.

At bumangon si Jacob mula sa Beerseba; at dinala ng mga anak ni Israel si Jacob na kanilang ama, at ang kanilang mga bata, at ang kanilang mga asawa, sa mga kariton na ipinadala ni Faraon kay Jacob.

At kanilang dinala ang kanilang mga hayop, at ang kanilang mga pag-aari na kanilang inimpok sa lupain ng Canaan, at na pasa Egipto, si Jacob at ang buong binhi niya na kasama niya.

Ang kaniyang mga anak na lalake at babae, at ang mga anak na lalake at babae ng kaniyang mga anak na kasama niya, at ang kaniyang buong binhi ay dinala niyang kasama niya sa Egipto.

At ito ang mga pangalan ng mga anak ni Israel, na napasa Egipto, ni Jacob at ng kaniyang mga anak: si Ruben na anak na panganay ni Jacob.

At ang mga anak ni Ruben; si Hanoch, at si Phallu, at si Hezron, at si Carmi.

10 At ang mga anak ni Simeon; si Jemuel, at si Jamin, at si Ohad, at si Jachin, at si Zohar, at si Saul na anak ng isang babaing taga Canaan.

11 At ang mga anak ni Levi; si Gerson, si Coat at si Merari.

12 At ang mga anak ni Juda; si Er, at si Onan, at si Sela, at si Phares, at si Zara; nguni't si Er at si Onan ay namatay sa lupain ng Canaan. At ang mga anak ni Phares, si Hezron at si Hamul.

13 At ang mga anak ni Issachar; si Thola, at si Phua, at si Job, at si Simron.

14 At ang mga anak ni Zabulon; si Sered; at si Elon, at si Jahleel.

15 Ito ang mga anak ni Lea, na kaniyang ipinanganak kay Jacob sa Padan-aram, sangpu ng kaniyang anak na babaing si Dina: ang lahat na taong kaniyang mga anak na lalake at babae ay tatlong pu't tatlo.

16 At ang mga anak ni Gad; si Ziphion, at si Aggi, si Suni, at si Ezbon, si Heri, at si Arodi, at si Areli.

17 At ang mga anak ni Aser; si Jimna; at si Ishua, at si Isui, at si Beria, at si Sera na kanilang kapatid na babae: at ang mga anak ni Beria; si Heber, at si Malchel.

18 Ito ang mga anak ni Zilpa na siyang ibinigay ni Laban kay Lea na kaniyang anak na babae, at ang mga ito ay kaniyang ipinanganak kay Jacob, na labing anim na tao.

19 Ang mga anak ni Raquel na asawa ni Jacob; si Jose at si Benjamin.

20 At kay Jose ay ipinanganak sa lupain ng Egipto si Manases at si Ephraim, na ipinanganak sa kaniya ni Asenath, na anak ni Potiphera na saserdote sa On.

21 At ang mga anak ni Benjamin; si Bela; at si Becher, at si Asbel, si Gera, at si Naaman, si Ehi, at si Ros, si Muppim, at si Huppim, at si Ard.

22 Ito ang mga anak ni Raquel na ipinanganak kay Jacob: lahat ay labing apat.

23 At ang mga anak ni Dan; si Husim.

24 At ang mga anak ni Nephtali; si Jahzeel, at si Guni, at si Jezer, at si Shillem.

25 Ito ang mga anak ni Bilha, na siyang ibinigay ni Laban kay Raquel na kaniyang anak, at ang mga ito ang ipinanganak niya kay Jacob; lahat na tao ay pito.

26 Lahat na tao na sumama kay Jacob sa Egipto, na nagsilabas sa kaniyang mga balakang, bukod pa ang mga asawa ng mga anak ni Jacob, ang lahat na tao ay anim na pu't anim;

27 At ang mga anak ni Jose na ipinanganak sa kaniya sa Egipto, ay dalawang katao; ang lahat na tao sa sangbahayan ni Jacob, na napasa Egipto, ay pitongpu.

28 At pinapagpauna niya si Juda kay Jose, upang ituro ang daan na patungo sa Gosen; at sila'y nagsidating sa lupain ng Gosen.

29 At inihanda ni Jose ang kaniyang karro, at sumampang sinalubong si Israel na kaniyang ama sa Gosen; at siya'y humarap sa kaniya, at yumakap sa kaniyang leeg, at umiyak sa kaniyang leeg na matagal.

30 At sinabi ni Israel kay Jose, Ngayo'y mamatay na ako yamang nakita ko na ang iyong mukha, na ikaw ay buhay pa.

31 At sinabi ni Jose sa kaniyang mga kapatid, at sa sangbahayan ng kaniyang ama, Ako'y aahon, at aking sasaysayin kay Faraon, at aking sasabihin sa kaniya. Ang aking mga kapatid, at ang sangbahayan ng aking ama, na nangasa lupain ng Canaan, ay naparito sa akin;

32 At ang mga lalake ay mga pastor, sapagka't sila'y naging tagapagalaga ng hayop, at kanilang dinala ang kanilang mga kawan, at ang kanilang mga bakahan, at ang lahat nilang tinatangkilik.

33 At mangyayaring, pagka tatawagin kayo ni Faraon, at sasabihin, Ano ang inyong hanapbuhay?

34 Na inyong sasabihin, Ang iyong mga lingkod ay naging tagapagalaga ng hayop mula sa aming pagkabata hanggang ngayon, kami at ang aming mga magulang; upang kayo'y matira sa lupain ng Gosen; sapagka't bawa't pastor ay kasuklamsuklam sa mga Egipcio.

Joseph Brings His Family to Egypt

46 So Israel took his journey with all that he had and came to (A)Beersheba, and offered sacrifices (B)to the God of his father Isaac. And God spoke to Israel (C)in visions of the night and said, “Jacob, Jacob.” And he said, “Here I am.” Then he said, “I am God, (D)the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will (E)make you into a great nation. I myself will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also (F)bring you up again, and (G)Joseph's hand shall close your eyes.”

Then Jacob set out from Beersheba. The sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons (H)that Pharaoh had sent to carry him. They also took their livestock and their goods, which they had gained in the land of Canaan, and (I)came into Egypt, Jacob and all his offspring with him, his sons, and his sons' sons with him, his daughters, and his sons' daughters. All his offspring he brought with him into Egypt.

(J)Now (K)these are the names of the descendants of Israel, who came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons. (L)Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and the sons of Reuben: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi. 10 The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul, the son of a Canaanite woman. 11 The sons of (M)Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. 12 The sons of (N)Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah (but (O)Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan); and the sons of (P)Perez were Hezron and Hamul. 13 (Q)The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puvah, Yob, and Shimron. 14 The sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel. 15 These are the sons of Leah, (R)whom she bore to Jacob in Paddan-aram, together with his daughter Dinah; altogether his sons and his daughters numbered thirty-three.

16 The sons of Gad: Ziphion, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli. 17 (S)The sons of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, Beriah, with Serah their sister. And the sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel. 18 (T)These are the sons of Zilpah, (U)whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter; and these she bore to Jacob—sixteen persons.

19 The sons of Rachel, Jacob's wife: Joseph and Benjamin. 20 And (V)to Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera the priest of (W)On, bore to him. 21 And (X)the sons of Benjamin: Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard. 22 These are the sons of Rachel, who were born to Jacob—fourteen persons in all.

23 The son[a] of Dan: Hushim. 24 (Y)The sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem. 25 (Z)These are the sons of Bilhah, (AA)whom Laban gave to Rachel his daughter, and these she bore to Jacob—seven persons in all.

26 All the persons belonging to Jacob who came into Egypt, who were his own descendants, not including Jacob's sons' wives, were sixty-six persons in all. 27 And the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were two. (AB)All the persons of the house of Jacob who came into Egypt were seventy.

Jacob and Joseph Reunited

28 He had sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph to show the way before him in Goshen, and they came (AC)into the land of Goshen. 29 Then Joseph prepared his chariot and went up to meet Israel his father in Goshen. He presented himself to him and (AD)fell on his neck and wept on his neck a good while. 30 Israel said to Joseph, (AE)“Now let me die, since I have seen your face and know that you are still alive.” 31 Joseph said to his brothers and to his father's household, (AF)“I will go up and tell Pharaoh and will say to him, ‘My brothers and my father's household, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me. 32 (AG)And the men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of livestock, and they have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.’ 33 When Pharaoh calls you and says, (AH)‘What is your occupation?’ 34 you shall say, (AI)‘Your servants have been keepers of livestock (AJ)from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers,’ in order that you may dwell (AK)in the land of Goshen, for every shepherd is (AL)an abomination to the Egyptians.”

33 And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What is your occupation?

34 That ye shall say, Thy servants' trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

Jacob se rend en Egypte

46 Israël se mit en route avec tout ce qu’il possédait. Lorsqu’il arriva à Beer-Sheva, il offrit des sacrifices au Dieu de son père Isaac. Et Dieu s’adressa à lui dans une vision nocturne. Il l’appela : Jacob ! Jacob !

– Oui, répondit-il, j’écoute.

– Je suis Dieu, le Dieu de ton père. N’aie pas peur de te rendre en Egypte, j’y ferai de toi un grand peuple. Moi-même je t’accompagnerai en Egypte, et moi-même aussi, je te l’assure, je t’en ferai revenir ; et c’est Joseph qui te fermera les yeux.

Jacob repartit donc de Beer-Sheva ; les fils d’Israël le firent monter avec leurs enfants et leurs femmes sur les chariots que le pharaon avait envoyés pour les transporter. Ils emmenèrent aussi leurs troupeaux et tous les biens qu’ils avaient acquis au pays de Canaan. Ainsi Jacob et toute sa famille arrivèrent en Egypte[a]. Il avait avec lui ses fils et ses petits-fils, ses filles et ses petites-filles, toute sa descendance, lorsqu’il se rendit en Egypte.

La famille de Jacob en Egypte

Voici les noms des fils d’Israël, venus en Egypte : Jacob et ses fils, le premier-né de Jacob étant Ruben, les fils de Ruben : Hénok, Pallou, Hetsrôn et Karmi. 10 Les fils de Siméon : Yemouel, Yamîn, Ohad, Yakîn, Tsohar et Saül, le fils de la Cananéenne. 11 Les fils de Lévi : Guershôn, Qehath et Merari. 12 Les fils de Juda : Er, Onân, Shéla, Pérets et Zérah. Mais Er et Onân étaient morts au pays de Canaan. Pérets avait pour fils : Hetsrôn et Hamoul. 13 Les fils d’Issacar : Tola, Pouah[b], Yashoub[c] et Shimrôn, 14 et les fils de Zabulon : Séred, Elôn et Yahléel. 15 Ce sont là les descendants que Léa donna à Jacob en Paddân-Aram. Il y avait en plus leur fille Dina. 26 L’ensemble des descendants de Jacob qui se rendirent avec lui en Egypte étaient au nombre de soixante-six, et il y avait en plus les femmes de ses fils. 27 Les fils que Joseph eut en Egypte étant au nombre de deux, l’ensemble de la famille de Jacob qui s’était rendue en Egypte comptait soixante-dix personnes[f].

L’installation dans la région de Goshen

28 Jacob envoya Juda au-devant de lui vers Joseph, afin qu’il le précède dans la région de Goshen. Quand ils y furent arrivés, 29 Joseph attela son char et partit rendre visite à Israël, son père, en Goshen. Quand il le vit, il se jeta à son cou et pleura longuement sur son épaule. 30 Puis Israël dit à Joseph : Maintenant je peux mourir, puisque je t’ai revu et que tu vis encore !

31 Joseph dit à ses frères et à la famille de son père : Je vais aller prévenir le pharaon, et lui dire : « Mes frères et la famille de mon père qui habitaient le pays de Canaan sont arrivés auprès de moi. 32 Ce sont des bergers ; ils élèvent des troupeaux, et ils ont amené avec eux leurs moutons, leurs chèvres et leurs bovins ainsi que tout ce qui leur appartient. » 33 Quand le pharaon vous convoquera et qu’il vous demandera : « Quelles sont vos occupations ? » 34 vous lui répondrez : « Tes serviteurs ont toujours élevé du bétail, depuis leur jeunesse jusqu’à ce jour – tout comme nos ancêtres. » De cette manière, il vous fera habiter dans la région de Goshen, car les bergers sont une abomination pour les Egyptiens.

Jacob Goes to Egypt

46 So Israel(A) set out with all that was his, and when he reached Beersheba,(B) he offered sacrifices(C) to the God of his father Isaac.(D)

And God spoke to Israel(E) in a vision at night(F) and said, “Jacob! Jacob!”

“Here I am,”(G) he replied.

“I am God, the God of your father,”(H) he said. “Do not be afraid(I) to go down to Egypt,(J) for I will make you into a great nation(K) there.(L) I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again.(M) And Joseph’s own hand will close your eyes.(N)

Then Jacob left Beersheba,(O) and Israel’s(P) sons took their father Jacob and their children and their wives in the carts(Q) that Pharaoh had sent to transport him. So Jacob and all his offspring went to Egypt,(R) taking with them their livestock and the possessions(S) they had acquired(T) in Canaan. Jacob brought with him to Egypt(U) his sons and grandsons and his daughters and granddaughters—all his offspring.(V)

26 All those who went to Egypt with Jacob—those who were his direct descendants, not counting his sons’ wives—numbered sixty-six persons.(BP) 27 With the two sons[f] who had been born to Joseph in Egypt,(BQ) the members of Jacob’s family, which went to Egypt, were seventy[g] in all.(BR)

28 Now Jacob sent Judah(BS) ahead of him to Joseph to get directions to Goshen.(BT) When they arrived in the region of Goshen, 29 Joseph had his chariot(BU) made ready and went to Goshen to meet his father Israel.(BV) As soon as Joseph appeared before him, he threw his arms around his father[h] and wept(BW) for a long time.(BX)

30 Israel(BY) said to Joseph, “Now I am ready to die, since I have seen for myself that you are still alive.”(BZ)

31 Then Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “I will go up and speak to Pharaoh and will say to him, ‘My brothers and my father’s household, who were living in the land of Canaan,(CA) have come to me.(CB) 32 The men are shepherds;(CC) they tend livestock,(CD) and they have brought along their flocks and herds and everything they own.’(CE) 33 When Pharaoh calls you in and asks, ‘What is your occupation?’(CF) 34 you should answer, ‘Your servants(CG) have tended livestock from our boyhood on, just as our fathers did.’(CH) Then you will be allowed to settle(CI) in the region of Goshen,(CJ) for all shepherds are detestable to the Egyptians.(CK)
