Genesis 44:17-19

¹⁷Joseph told them, “I would never punish all of you. Only the one who was caught with the cup will become my slave. The rest of you are free to go home to your father.”

Judah Pleads for Benjamin

¹⁸Judah went over to Joseph and said:

Sir, you have as much power as the king^[a] himself, and I am only your slave. Please don't get angry if I speak. ¹⁹You asked us if our father was still alive and if we had any more brothers.

¹⁷And he said, God forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father.

¹⁸Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let thy servant, I pray thee, speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not thine anger burn against thy servant: for thou art even as Pharaoh.

¹⁹My lord asked his servants, saying, Have ye a father, or a brother?

¹⁷But Joseph said, “Far be it from me to do such a thing!^(A) Only the man who was found to have the cup will become my slave.^(B) The rest of you, go back to your father in peace.”^(C)

¹⁸Then Judah^(D) went up to him and said: “Pardon your servant, my lord,^(E) let me speak a word to my lord. Do not be angry^(F) with your servant, though you are equal to Pharaoh himself. ¹⁹My lord asked his servants,^(G) ‘Do you have a father or a brother?’^(H)
