⁵⁰ And unto Joseph were born two sons before the year of famine came, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of On, bare unto him. ⁵¹ And Joseph called the name of the first-born ^[a]Manasseh: For, said he, God hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house.

¹⁴ And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh’s head, ^[a]guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the first-born.
