23 And Lamech said to his wives,
“Adah and Zillah,
Hear my voice,
You wives of Lamech,
Give ear to my word,
(A)For I [a]have killed a man for [b]striking me;
And a boy for wounding me;
24 If Cain is avenged (B)sevenfold,
Then Lamech seventy-sevenfold.”
25 (C)Then Adam [c]knew his wife again; and she [d]gave birth to a son and named him [e]Seth, for she said, “God [f]has set for me another [g]seed in place of Abel, (D)for Cain killed him.”

23 Lamech said to his wives,
“Adah and Zillah, listen to me;
wives of Lamech, hear my words.
I have killed(A) a man for wounding me,
a young man for injuring me.
24 If Cain is avenged(B) seven times,(C)
then Lamech seventy-seven times.(D)”
25 Adam made love to his wife(E) again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth,[a](F) saying, “God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him.”(G)
