The Family of Cain

¹⁶ Then Cain ^(A)went out from the ^(B)presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of ^[a]Nod on the east of Eden. ¹⁷ And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. And he built a city, ^(C)and called the name of the city after the name of his son—Enoch.

² And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land ^(A)of Shinar, and they dwelt there.

⁴ And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower ^(A)whose top is in the heavens; let us make a ^(B)name for ourselves, lest we ^(C)be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”
