Esau's Descendants
36 These are the generations of Esau (that is, (A)Edom). 2 Esau (B)took his wives from the Canaanites: Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, (C)Oholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter[a] of Zibeon the Hivite, 3 and (D)Basemath, Ishmael's daughter, the sister of Nebaioth. 4 And Adah bore to Esau, (E)Eliphaz; Basemath bore Reuel; 5 and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. These are the sons of Esau who were born to him in the land of Canaan.
6 Then Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the members of his household, his livestock, all his beasts, and all his property that he had acquired in the land of Canaan. He went into a land away from his brother Jacob. 7 (F)For their possessions were too great for them to dwell together. (G)The land of their sojournings could not support them because of their livestock. 8 So Esau settled in (H)the hill country of Seir. ((I)Esau is Edom.)
9 These are the generations of Esau the father of (J)the Edomites in the hill country of Seir. 10 These are the names of Esau's sons: (K)Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Basemath the wife of Esau. 11 The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz. 12 (Timna was a concubine of Eliphaz, Esau's son; she bore (L)Amalek to Eliphaz.) These are the sons of Adah, Esau's wife. 13 These are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. These are the sons of Basemath, Esau's wife. 14 These are the sons of (M)Oholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon, Esau's wife: she bore to Esau Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.
15 These are (N)the chiefs of the sons of Esau. (O)The sons of Eliphaz the firstborn of Esau: the chiefs Teman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz, 16 Korah, Gatam, and Amalek; these are the chiefs of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Adah. 17 These are the sons of (P)Reuel, Esau's son: the chiefs Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah; these are the chiefs of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Basemath, Esau's wife. 18 These are the sons of (Q)Oholibamah, Esau's wife: the chiefs Jeush, Jalam, and Korah; these are the chiefs born of Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau's wife. 19 These are the sons of Esau ((R)that is, Edom), and these are their chiefs.
20 (S)These are the sons of (T)Seir the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, 21 Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan; these are the chiefs of the Horites, the sons of Seir in the land of Edom. 22 The sons of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; and Lotan's sister was Timna. 23 These are the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam. 24 These are the sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah; he is the Anah who found the hot springs in the wilderness, as he pastured the donkeys of Zibeon his father. 25 These are the children of Anah: Dishon and (U)Oholibamah the daughter of Anah. 26 These are the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran. 27 These are the sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan. 28 These are the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran. 29 These are the chiefs of the Horites: the (V)chiefs Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, 30 Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan; these are the chiefs of the Horites, chief by chief in the land of Seir.
31 (W)These are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom, before any king reigned over the Israelites. 32 Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom, the name of his city being Dinhabah. 33 Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his place. 34 Jobab died, and Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his place. 35 Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, reigned in his place, the name of his city being Avith. 36 Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his place. 37 Samlah died, and Shaul of (X)Rehoboth on the Euphrates[b] reigned in his place. 38 Shaul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his place. 39 Baal-hanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his place, the name of his city being Pau; his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, daughter of Mezahab.
40 These are the names of the chiefs of Esau, according to their clans and their dwelling places, by their names: the chiefs Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, 41 Oholibamah, Elah, (Y)Pinon, 42 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, 43 Magdiel, and Iram; these are the chiefs of Edom (that is, Esau, the father of (Z)Edom), according to their dwelling places in the land of their possession.

36 这是以扫的后代，以扫就是以东。 2 以扫娶迦南的女子为妻，就是赫人以伦的女儿亚大和希未人祭便的孙女，亚拿的女儿阿何利巴玛， 3 又娶了以实玛利的女儿，尼拜约的妹妹巴实抹。 4 亚大为以扫生了以利法；巴实抹生了流珥； 5 阿何利巴玛生了耶乌施、雅兰、可拉。这些都是以扫的儿子，是在迦南地生的。
6 以扫带着他的妻子、儿女和家中所有的人，以及他的牛羊、牲畜和一切财物，就是他在迦南地所得的，往别处去，离开了他的兄弟雅各。 7 因为他们拥有的很多，不能住在一起。因为牲畜的缘故，寄居的地方容不下他们。 8 于是以扫住在西珥山；以扫就是以东。
9 这是以扫的后代，他是西珥山里以东人的始祖。 10 以扫子孙的名字如下：以扫的妻子亚大生以利法；以扫的妻子巴实抹生流珥。 11 以利法的儿子是提幔、阿抹、洗玻、迦坦、基纳斯。 12 亭纳是以扫儿子以利法的妾，她为以利法生了亚玛力。这是以扫的妻子亚大的子孙。 13 流珥的儿子是拿哈、谢拉、沙玛、米撒。这是以扫妻子巴实抹的子孙。 14 以扫的妻子阿何利巴玛是祭便的孙女，亚拿的女儿。她为以扫生了耶乌施、雅兰、可拉。
15 这是以扫子孙中作族长的：以扫的长子以利法的子孙中，有提幔族长、阿抹族长、洗玻族长、基纳斯族长、 16 可拉族长、迦坦族长、亚玛力族长。这是在以东地，从以利法所出的族长，是亚大的子孙。 17 以扫的儿子流珥的子孙中，有拿哈族长、谢拉族长、沙玛族长、米撒族长。这是在以东地，从流珥所出的族长，是以扫妻子巴实抹的子孙。 18 以扫的妻子阿何利巴玛的子孙中，有耶乌施族长、雅兰族长、可拉族长。这是从以扫的妻子，亚拿的女儿阿何利巴玛的子孙中所出的族长。 19 以上的族长都是以扫的子孙；以扫就是以东。
西珥的子孙(B)
20 这是那地原来的居民，何利人西珥的子孙：罗坍、朔巴、祭便、亚拿、 21 底顺、以察、底珊。这是在以东地，从何利人西珥子孙中所出的族长。 22 罗坍的儿子是何利、希幔，罗坍的妹妹是亭纳。 23 朔巴的儿子是亚勒文、玛拿辖、以巴录、示玻、阿南。 24 祭便的儿子是爱亚、亚拿，当时在旷野牧放他父亲祭便的驴，发现温泉的就是这亚拿。 25 亚拿的儿子是底顺，亚拿的女儿是阿何利巴玛。 26 底顺的儿子是欣但、伊是班、益兰、基兰。 27 以察的儿子是辟罕、撒番、亚干。 28 底珊的儿子是乌斯、亚兰。 29 这是从何利人所出的族长：罗坍族长、朔巴族长、祭便族长、亚拿族长、 30 底顺族长、以察族长、底珊族长。这是从何利人所出的族长，都在西珥地，按着族长[a]来分。

31 以色列未有君王治理之前，这些是在以东地作王的。 32 比珥的儿子比拉在以东作王，他的城名叫亭哈巴。 33 比拉死了，波斯拉人谢拉的儿子约巴接续他作王。 34 约巴死了，提幔人之地的户珊接续他作王。 35 户珊死了，比达的儿子哈达接续他作王，哈达曾在摩押地击败米甸人，他的城名叫亚未得。 36 哈达死了，玛士利加人桑拉接续他作王。 37 桑拉死了，大河边的利河伯人扫罗接续他作王。 38 扫罗死了，亚革波的儿子巴勒‧哈南接续他作王。 39 亚革波的儿子巴勒‧哈南死了，哈达尔[b]接续他作王，他的城名叫巴乌。他的妻子名叫米希她别，是米‧萨合的孙女，玛特列的女儿。

36 Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.
2 Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;
3 And Bashemath Ishmael's daughter, sister of Nebajoth.
4 And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz; and Bashemath bare Reuel;
5 And Aholibamah bare Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah: these are the sons of Esau, which were born unto him in the land of Canaan.
6 And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob.
7 For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle.
8 Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau is Edom.
9 And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in mount Seir:
10 These are the names of Esau's sons; Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Bashemath the wife of Esau.
11 And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz.
12 And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son; and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek: these were the sons of Adah Esau's wife.
13 And these are the sons of Reuel; Nahath, and Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah: these were the sons of Bashemath Esau's wife.
14 And these were the sons of Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon, Esau's wife: and she bare to Esau Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah.
15 These were dukes of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz the firstborn son of Esau; duke Teman, duke Omar, duke Zepho, duke Kenaz,
16 Duke Korah, duke Gatam, and duke Amalek: these are the dukes that came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these were the sons of Adah.
17 And these are the sons of Reuel Esau's son; duke Nahath, duke Zerah, duke Shammah, duke Mizzah: these are the dukes that came of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Bashemath Esau's wife.
18 And these are the sons of Aholibamah Esau's wife; duke Jeush, duke Jaalam, duke Korah: these were the dukes that came of Aholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau's wife.
19 These are the sons of Esau, who is Edom, and these are their dukes.
20 These are the sons of Seir the Horite, who inhabited the land; Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah,
21 And Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan: these are the dukes of the Horites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom.
22 And the children of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; and Lotan's sister was Timna.
23 And the children of Shobal were these; Alvan, and Manahath, and Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.
24 And these are the children of Zibeon; both Ajah, and Anah: this was that Anah that found the mules in the wilderness, as he fed the asses of Zibeon his father.
25 And the children of Anah were these; Dishon, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah.
26 And these are the children of Dishon; Hemdan, and Eshban, and Ithran, and Cheran.
27 The children of Ezer are these; Bilhan, and Zaavan, and Akan.
28 The children of Dishan are these; Uz, and Aran.
29 These are the dukes that came of the Horites; duke Lotan, duke Shobal, duke Zibeon, duke Anah,
30 Duke Dishon, duke Ezer, duke Dishan: these are the dukes that came of Hori, among their dukes in the land of Seir.
31 And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel.
32 And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom: and the name of his city was Dinhabah.
33 And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead.
34 And Jobab died, and Husham of the land of Temani reigned in his stead.
35 And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Avith.
36 And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead.
37 And Samlah died, and Saul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his stead.
38 And Saul died, and Baalhanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead.
39 And Baalhanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Pau; and his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.
40 And these are the names of the dukes that came of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names; duke Timnah, duke Alvah, duke Jetheth,
41 Duke Aholibamah, duke Elah, duke Pinon,
42 Duke Kenaz, duke Teman, duke Mibzar,
43 Duke Magdiel, duke Iram: these be the dukes of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession: he is Esau the father of the Edomites.
