35 Perëndia i tha Jakobit: "Çohu, ngjitu në Bethel dhe vendosu aty; dhe bëj aty një altar Perëndisë që t’u shfaq, kur ikje para vëllait tënd Esau".
2 Atëherë Jakobi i tha familjes së tij dhe gjithë atyre që ishin me të: Hiqni nga rrethi juaj perënditë e huaja, pastrohuni dhe ndërroni rrobatt tuaja;
3 pastaj të ngrihemi dhe të shkojmë në Bethel, dhe unë do t’i bëj një altar Perëndisë që plotësoi dëshirën time ditën e fatkeqësisë sime dhe që më shoqëroi në udhëtimin që kam bërë".
4 Atëherë ata i dhanë Jakobit tërë perënditë e huaja që kishin dhe varëset që mbanin në veshë; dhe Jakobi i fshehu nën lisin që ndodhet pranë Sikemit.
5 Pastaj ata u nisën dhe tmerri i Perëndisë ra mbi të gjitha qytetet rreth tyre, kështu që nuk i ndoqën bijtë e Jakobit.
6 Kështu Jakobi arriti në Luc, domethënë në Bethel, që ndodhet në vendin e Kanaanit; erdhi aty me të gjithë njerëzit që ishin me të.
7 Dhe aty ndërtoi një altar dhe këtë vend e quajti El-Bethel, sepse aty i qe çfaqur Perëndia kur po ikte para vëllait të tij.
8 Atëherë vdiq Debora, taja e Rebekës, dhe e varrosën poshtë Bethelit, në këmbët e lisit që u quajt Alon-Bakuth.
9 Perëndia iu shfaq përsëri Jakobit, kur ky po vinte nga Padam-Arami dhe e bekoi.
10 Dhe Perëndia i tha: "Emri yt është Jakob; ti nuk do të quhesh më Jakob, por emri yt do të jetë Izrael". Dhe i vuri emrin Izrael.
11 Pastaj Perëndia i tha: "Unë jam Perëndia i Plotfuqishëm; ti bëhu i frytshëm dhe shumëzo; një komb, madje një tërësi kombesh do të rrjedhin prej teje, dhe disa mbretër kanë për të dalë nga ijët e tua;
12 dhe do të të jap ty dhe pasardhësve të tu pas teje vendin që i dhashë Abrahamit dhe Isakut".
13 Pastaj Perëndia u ngjit më lart nga ai, nga vendi ku i kishte folur.
14 Atëherë Jakobi ndërtoi një përmendore, një përmendore prej guri, në vendin ku Perëndia i kishte folur; mbi të hodhi pak verë dhe derdhi ca vaj sipër.
15 Dhe Jakobi e quajti Bethel vendin ku Perëndia i kishte folur.
16 Pastaj u nisën nga Betheli; kishte edhe një copë rrugë për të arritur në Efratë, kur Rakela lindi. Ajo pati një lindje të vështirë;
17 dhe gjatë lindjes së vështirë mamia i tha: "Mos ki frikë, sepse edhe këtë herë ke një djalë".
18 Dhe ndërsa shpirti po e linte (sepse vdiq), i vuri emrin Ben-Oni, por i ati e quajti Beniamin.
19 Kështu Rakela vdiq dhe u varros në rrugën e Efratës (domethënë të Betlemit).
20 Dhe Jakobi ngriti mbi varrin e saj një përmendore. Dhe kjo përmendore ekziston ende sot e kësaj dite mbi varrin e Rakelës.
21 Pastaj Izraeli u nis dhe ngriti çadrën përtej Migdal-Ederit.
22 Dhe ndodhi që, ndërsa Izraeli banonte në atë vend, Rubeni shkoi e ra në shtrat me Bilbah, konkubinën e atit të tij. Dhe Izraeli e mori vesh.
23 Bijtë e Jakobit ishin dymbëdhjetë. Bijtë e Leas ishin: Rubeni, i parëlinduri i Jakobit, Simeoni, Levi, Juda, Isakari dhe Zabuloni.
24 Bijtë e Rakelës ishin: Jozefi dhe Beniamini.
25 Bijtë e Bilhahut, shërbëtorja e Rakelës, ishin: Dani dhe Neftali.
26 Bijtë e Zilpahës, shërbëtorja e Leas, ishin: Gadi dhe Asheri. Këta janë bijtë e Jakobit që i lindën në Padan-Aram.
27 Pastaj Jakobi erdhi tek Isaku, i ati, në Marme, në Kirjath-Arba (domethënë në Hebron), ku Abrahami dhe Isaku kishin qëndruar ca kohë.
28 Isaku jetoi njëqind e tetëdhjetë vjet.
29 Kështu Isaku dha shpirt, vdiq dhe u bashkua me popullin e tij, ishte i plakur dhe i ngopur me ditë; dhe Esau dhe Jakobi, bijtë e tij, e varrosën.

Deus manda Jacó a Betel a levantar um altar
35 Depois, disse Deus a Jacó: Levanta-te, sobe a Betel e habita ali; faze ali um altar ao Deus que te apareceu quando fugiste diante da face de Esaú, teu irmão. 2 Então, disse Jacó à sua família e a todos os que com ele estavam: Tirai os deuses estranhos que há no meio de vós, e purificai-vos, e mudai as vossas vestes. 3 E levantemo-nos e subamos a Betel; e ali farei um altar ao Deus que me respondeu no dia da minha angústia e que foi comigo no caminho que tenho andado. 4 Então, deram a Jacó todos os deuses estranhos que tinham em suas mãos e as arrecadas que estavam em suas orelhas; e Jacó os escondeu debaixo do carvalho que está junto a Siquém.
5 E partiram; e o terror de Deus foi sobre as cidades que estavam ao redor deles, e não seguiram após os filhos de Jacó. 6 Assim, chegou Jacó a Luz, que está na terra de Canaã (esta é Betel), ele e todo o povo que com ele havia. 7 E edificou ali um altar e chamou aquele lugar El-Betel, porquanto Deus ali se lhe tinha manifestado quando fugia diante da face de seu irmão.
A morte de Débora
8 E morreu Débora, a ama de Rebeca, e foi sepultada ao pé de Betel, debaixo do carvalho cujo nome chamou Alom-Bacute.
9 E apareceu Deus outra vez a Jacó, vindo de Padã-Arã, e abençoou-o. 10 E disse-lhe Deus: O teu nome é Jacó; não se chamará mais o teu nome Jacó, mas Israel será o teu nome. E chamou o seu nome Israel. 11 Disse-lhe mais Deus: Eu sou o Deus Todo-Poderoso; frutifica e multiplica-te; uma nação e multidão de nações sairão de ti, e reis procederão de ti. 12 E te darei a ti a terra que tenho dado a Abraão e a Isaque e à tua semente depois de ti darei a terra. 13 E Deus subiu dele, do lugar onde falara com ele. 14 E Jacó pôs uma coluna no lugar onde falara com ele, uma coluna de pedra; e derramou sobre ela uma libação e deitou sobre ela azeite. 15 E chamou Jacó o nome daquele lugar, onde Deus falara com ele, Betel.
O nascimento de Benjamim e a morte de Raquel
16 Partiram de Betel, e, havendo ainda um pequeno espaço de terra para chegar a Efrata, teve um filho Raquel e teve trabalho em seu parto. 17 E aconteceu que, tendo ela trabalho em seu parto, lhe disse a parteira: Não temas, porque também este filho terás. 18 E aconteceu que, saindo-se-lhe a alma (porque morreu), chamou o seu nome Benoni; mas seu pai o chamou Benjamim. 19 Assim, morreu Raquel e foi sepultada no caminho de Efrata; esta é Belém. 20 E Jacó pôs uma coluna sobre a sua sepultura; esta é a coluna da sepultura de Raquel até o dia de hoje. 21 Então, partiu Israel e estendeu a sua tenda além de Migdal-Éder.
22 E aconteceu que, habitando Israel naquela terra, foi Rúben e deitou-se com Bila, concubina de seu pai; e Israel soube-o. E eram doze os filhos de Jacó: 23 os filhos de Leia: Rúben, o primogênito de Jacó, depois Simeão e Levi, Judá, Issacar e Zebulom; 24 os filhos de Raquel: José e Benjamim; 25 os filhos de Bila, serva de Raquel: Dã e Naftali; 26 os filhos de Zilpa, serva de Leia: Gade e Aser. Estes são os filhos de Jacó, que lhe nasceram em Padã-Arã.
27 E Jacó veio a Isaque, seu pai, a Manre, a Quiriate-Arba (que é Hebrom), onde peregrinaram Abraão e Isaque. 28 E foram os dias de Isaque cento e oitenta anos. 29 E Isaque expirou, e morreu, e foi recolhido aos seus povos, velho e farto de dias; e Esaú e Jacó, seus filhos, o sepultaram.

Jacob’s Return to Bethel
35 Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to (A)Bethel and dwell there; and make an altar there to God, (B)who appeared to you (C)when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.”
2 And Jacob said to his (D)household and to all who were with him, “Put away (E)the foreign gods that are among you, (F)purify yourselves, and change your garments. 3 Then let us arise and go up to Bethel; and I will make an altar there to God, (G)who answered me in the day of my distress (H)and has been with me in the way which I have gone.” 4 So they gave Jacob all the foreign [a]gods which were in their hands, and the (I)earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under (J)the terebinth tree which was by Shechem.
5 And they journeyed, and (K)the terror of God was upon the cities that were all around them, and they did not pursue the sons of Jacob. 6 So Jacob came to (L)Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him. 7 And he (M)built an altar there and called the place [b]El Bethel, because (N)there God appeared to him when he fled from the face of his brother.
8 Now (O)Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, died, and she was buried below Bethel under the terebinth tree. So the name of it was called [c]Allon Bachuth.
9 Then (P)God appeared to Jacob again, when he came from Padan Aram, and (Q)blessed him. 10 And God said to him, “Your name is Jacob; (R)your name shall not be called Jacob anymore, (S)but Israel shall be your name.” So He called his name Israel. 11 Also God said to him: (T)“I am God Almighty. (U)Be fruitful and multiply; (V)a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body. 12 The (W)land which I gave Abraham and Isaac I give to you; and to your descendants after you I give this land.” 13 Then God (X)went[d] up from him in the place where He talked with him. 14 So Jacob (Y)set up a pillar in the place where He talked with him, a pillar of stone; and he poured a drink offering on it, and he poured oil on it. 15 And Jacob called the name of the place where God spoke with him, (Z)Bethel.
Death of Rachel
16 Then they journeyed from Bethel. And when there was but a little distance to go to Ephrath, Rachel labored in childbirth, and she had hard labor. 17 Now it came to pass, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said to her, “Do not fear; (AA)you will have this son also.” 18 And so it was, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she called his name [e]Ben-Oni; but his father called him [f]Benjamin. 19 So (AB)Rachel died and was buried on the way to (AC)Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem). 20 And Jacob set a pillar on her grave, which is the pillar of Rachel’s grave (AD)to this day.
21 Then Israel journeyed and pitched his tent beyond (AE)the tower of Eder. 22 And it happened, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and (AF)lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine; and Israel heard about it.
Jacob’s Twelve Sons
Now the sons of Jacob were twelve: 23 the sons of Leah were (AG)Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, and Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun; 24 the sons of Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin; 25 the sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s maidservant, were Dan and Naphtali; 26 and the sons of Zilpah, Leah’s maidservant, were Gad and Asher. These were the sons of Jacob who were born to him in Padan Aram.
Death of Isaac
27 Then Jacob came to his father Isaac at (AH)Mamre, or (AI)Kirjath Arba[g] (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had dwelt. 28 Now the days of Isaac were one hundred and eighty years. 29 So Isaac breathed his last and died, and (AJ)was [h]gathered to his people, being old and full of days. And (AK)his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
