8 Then (A)Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, died, and she was buried below Bethel under the oak; it was named [a]Allon-bacuth.
Jacob Is Renamed Israel
9 Then God appeared to Jacob again when he came from Paddan-aram, and He (B)blessed him. 10 (C)And God said to him,
“Your name is Jacob;
Your name shall no longer be called Jacob,
But Israel shall be your name.”
Thus He called his name Israel.

8 Now Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse,(A) died and was buried under the oak(B) outside Bethel.(C) So it was named Allon Bakuth.[a]
9 After Jacob returned from Paddan Aram,[b](D) God appeared to him again and blessed him.(E) 10 God said to him, “Your name is Jacob,[c] but you will no longer be called Jacob; your name will be Israel.[d]”(F) So he named him Israel.

9 And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padanaram, and blessed him.
10 And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.
