Encuentro de Jacob y Esaú
33 Y alzando Jacob los ojos miró, y he aquí, Esaú venía y cuatrocientos hombres con él(A). Entonces dividió a los niños entre Lea y Raquel y las dos siervas. 2 Y puso a las siervas con sus hijos delante[a], y a Lea con sus hijos después, y a Raquel con José en último lugar[b]; 3 y él se les adelantó, y se inclinó hasta el suelo siete veces hasta que llegó cerca de su hermano(B). 4 Entonces Esaú corrió a su encuentro y lo abrazó, y echándose sobre su cuello lo besó, y lloraron(C). 5 Y alzó sus ojos y vio a las mujeres y a los niños, y dijo: ¿Quiénes son estos que vienen contigo?[c] Y él respondió: Son los hijos que Dios en su misericordia ha concedido a tu siervo(D). 6 Entonces se acercaron las siervas con[d] sus hijos, y se inclinaron. 7 Lea también se acercó con sus hijos, y se inclinaron; y después José se acercó con Raquel, y se inclinaron. 8 Y dijo Esaú: ¿Qué te propones con toda esta muchedumbre[e] que he encontrado(E)? Y él respondió: Hallar gracia ante los ojos de mi señor(F). 9 Pero Esaú dijo: Tengo bastante(G), hermano mío; sea tuyo lo que es tuyo. 10 Mas Jacob respondió: No, te ruego que si ahora he hallado gracia ante tus ojos, tomes el presente de mi mano, porque veo tu rostro como uno ve el rostro de Dios[f], y favorablemente me has recibido. 11 Acepta, te ruego, el presente[g](H) que se te ha traído, pues Dios me ha favorecido(I), y porque yo tengo mucho[h]. Y le insistió, y él lo aceptó. 12 Entonces Esaú dijo: Pongámonos en marcha y vámonos; yo iré delante de ti. 13 Pero él le dijo: Mi señor sabe que los niños son tiernos, y que debo cuidar de[i] las ovejas y las vacas que están criando. Si los apuramos mucho, en un solo día todos los rebaños morirán. 14 Adelántese ahora mi señor a su siervo; y yo avanzaré sin prisa, al paso del ganado que va delante de mí, y al paso de los niños, hasta que llegue a mi señor en Seir(J). 15 Y Esaú dijo: Permíteme dejarte parte de la gente que está conmigo. Pero él dijo: ¿Para qué?[j] Halle yo gracia ante los ojos de mi señor(K). 16 Aquel mismo día regresó Esaú por su camino a Seir; 17 y Jacob siguió[k] hasta Sucot[l](L), y se edificó una casa, e hizo cobertizos para su ganado; por eso al lugar se le puso el nombre de Sucot[m].
Jacob en Siquem
18 Y Jacob llegó sin novedad a la ciudad de Siquem(M), que está en la tierra de Canaán, cuando vino de Padán-aram(N), y acampó frente a la ciudad. 19 La parcela de campo donde había plantado su tienda la compró de mano de los hijos de Hamor, padre de Siquem, por cien monedas[n](O), 20 y levantó allí un altar, y lo llamó: El-Elohe-Israel[o].

33 And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.
2 And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.
3 And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
4 And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.
5 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.
6 Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.
7 And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
8 And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord.
9 And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself.
10 And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.
11 Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it.
12 And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee.
13 And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.
14 Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.
15 And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me. And he said, What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.
16 So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.
17 And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.
18 And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padanaram; and pitched his tent before the city.
19 And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of money.
20 And he erected there an altar, and called it EleloheIsrael.

Jacob and Esau Meet
33 Now Jacob lifted his eyes and looked, and there, (A)Esau was coming, and with him were four hundred men. So he divided the children among Leah, Rachel, and the two maidservants. 2 And he put the maidservants and their children in front, Leah and her children behind, and Rachel and Joseph last. 3 Then he crossed over before them and (B)bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
4 (C)But Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, (D)and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept. 5 And he lifted his eyes and saw the women and children, and said, “Who are these with you?”
So he said, “The children (E)whom God has graciously given your servant.” 6 Then the maidservants came near, they and their children, and bowed down. 7 And Leah also came near with her children, and they bowed down. Afterward Joseph and Rachel came near, and they bowed down.
8 Then Esau said, “What do you mean by (F)all this company which I met?”
And he said, “These are (G)to find favor in the sight of my lord.”
9 But Esau said, “I have enough, my brother; keep what you have for yourself.”
10 And Jacob said, “No, please, if I have now found favor in your sight, then receive my present from my hand, inasmuch as I (H)have seen your face as though I had seen the face of God, and you were pleased with me. 11 Please, take (I)my blessing that is brought to you, because God has dealt (J)graciously with me, and because I have [a]enough.” (K)So he urged him, and he took it.
12 Then Esau said, “Let us take our journey; let us go, and I will go before you.”
13 But Jacob said to him, “My lord knows that the children are weak, and the flocks and herds which are nursing are with me. And if the men should drive them hard one day, all the flock will die. 14 Please let my lord go on ahead before his servant. I will lead on slowly at a pace which the livestock that go before me, and the children, [b]are able to endure, until I come to my lord (L)in Seir.”
15 And Esau said, “Now let me leave with you some of the people who are with me.”
But he said, “What need is there? (M)Let me find favor in the sight of my lord.” 16 So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir. 17 And Jacob journeyed to (N)Succoth, built himself a house, and made [c]booths for his livestock. Therefore the name of the place is called [d]Succoth.
Jacob Comes to Canaan
18 Then Jacob came [e]safely to (O)the city of (P)Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padan Aram; and he pitched his tent before the city. 19 And (Q)he bought the parcel of [f]land, where he had pitched his tent, from the children of Hamor, Shechem’s father, for one hundred pieces of money. 20 Then he erected an altar there and called it (R)El[g] Elohe Israel.
