Genesis 32:31-33:5
English Standard Version
31 The sun rose upon him as he passed (A)Penuel, limping because of his hip. 32 Therefore to this day the people of Israel do not eat the sinew of the thigh that is on the hip socket, because he touched the socket of Jacob's hip on the sinew of the thigh.
Jacob Meets Esau
33 And Jacob lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, (B)Esau was coming, and four hundred men with him. So he divided the children among Leah and Rachel and the two female servants. 2 And he put the servants with their children in front, then Leah with her children, and Rachel and Joseph last of all. 3 He himself went on before them, (C)bowing himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
4 (D)But Esau ran to meet him and embraced him (E)and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept. 5 And when Esau lifted up his eyes and saw the women and children, he said, “Who are these with you?” Jacob said, (F)“The children whom God has graciously given your servant.”
