30 When Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, she envied her sister, and she said to Jacob, “Give me children, or I shall die!”(A) 2 Jacob became very angry with Rachel and said, “Am I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?”(B) 3 Then she said, “Here is my maid Bilhah; go in to her, that she may bear upon my knees and that I too may have children through her.”(C) 4 So she gave him her maid Bilhah as a wife, and Jacob went in to her.(D) 5 And Bilhah conceived and bore Jacob a son. 6 Then Rachel said, “God has judged me and has also heard my voice and given me a son”; therefore she named him Dan.[a](E) 7 Rachel’s maid Bilhah conceived again and bore Jacob a second son. 8 Then Rachel said, “With mighty wrestlings I have wrestled with my sister and have prevailed,” so she named him Naphtali.[b](F)
9 When Leah saw that she had ceased bearing children, she took her maid Zilpah and gave her to Jacob as a wife.(G) 10 Then Leah’s maid Zilpah bore Jacob a son. 11 And Leah said, “Good fortune!” So she named him Gad.[c] 12 Leah’s maid Zilpah bore Jacob a second son. 13 And Leah said, “Happy am I! For the women will call me happy,” so she named him Asher.[d](H)
14 In the days of wheat harvest Reuben went and found mandrakes in the field and brought them to his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, “Please give me some of your son’s mandrakes.”(I) 15 But she said to her, “Is it a small matter that you have taken away my husband? Would you take away my son’s mandrakes also?” Rachel said, “Then he may lie with you tonight for your son’s mandrakes.”(J) 16 When Jacob came from the field in the evening, Leah went out to meet him and said, “You must come in to me, for I have hired you with my son’s mandrakes.” So he lay with her that night. 17 And God heeded Leah, and she conceived and bore Jacob a fifth son. 18 Leah said, “God has given me my hire because I gave my maid to my husband,” so she named him Issachar.[e] 19 And Leah conceived again, and she bore Jacob a sixth son. 20 Then Leah said, “God has endowed me with a good gift; now my husband will honor me, because I have borne him six sons,” so she named him Zebulun.[f](K) 21 Afterwards she bore a daughter and named her Dinah.
22 Then God remembered Rachel, and God heeded her and opened her womb.(L) 23 She conceived and bore a son and said, “God has taken away my reproach,”(M) 24 and she named him Joseph,[g] saying, “May the Lord add to me another son!”(N)
Jacob Prospers at Laban’s Expense
25 When Rachel had borne Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, “Send me away, that I may go to my own home and country.(O) 26 Give me my wives and my children for whom I have served you, and let me go, for you know very well the service I have given you.” 27 But Laban said to him, “If you will allow me to say so, I have learned by divination that the Lord has blessed me because of you;(P) 28 name your wages, and I will give it.”(Q) 29 Jacob said to him, “You yourself know how I have served you and how your livestock have fared with me.(R) 30 For you had little before I came, and it has increased abundantly, and the Lord has blessed you wherever I turned. But now when shall I provide for my own household also?”(S) 31 He said, “What shall I give you?” Jacob said, “You shall not give me anything; if you will do this for me, I will again feed your flock and keep it: 32 let me pass through all your flock today, removing from it every speckled and spotted sheep and every black lamb and the spotted and speckled among the goats, and such shall be my wages.(T) 33 So my honesty will answer for me later, when you come to look into my wages with you. Every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats and black among the lambs, if found with me, shall be counted stolen.”(U) 34 Laban said, “Good! Let it be as you have said.” 35 But that day Laban removed the male goats that were striped and spotted, and all the female goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had white on it, and every lamb that was black and put them in charge of his sons, 36 and he set a distance of three days’ journey between himself and Jacob, while Jacob was pasturing the rest of Laban’s flock.
37 Then Jacob took fresh rods of poplar and almond and plane and peeled white streaks in them, exposing the white of the rods.(V) 38 He set the rods that he had peeled in front of the flocks in the troughs, that is, the watering places, where the flocks came to drink. And since they bred when they came to drink, 39 the flocks bred in front of the rods, and so the flocks produced young that were striped, speckled, and spotted. 40 Jacob separated the lambs and set the faces of the flocks toward the striped and the completely black animals in the flock of Laban, and he put his own droves apart and did not put them with Laban’s flock. 41 Whenever the stronger of the flock were breeding, Jacob laid the rods in the troughs before the eyes of the flock, that they might breed among the rods, 42 but for the feebler of the flock he did not lay them there, so the feebler were Laban’s and the stronger Jacob’s. 43 Thus the man grew exceedingly rich and had large flocks and male and female slaves and camels and donkeys.(W)

37 雅各拿杨树、杏树、枫树的嫩枝，将皮剥成白纹，使枝子露出白的来， 38 将剥了皮的枝子，对着羊群，插在饮羊的水沟里和水槽里，羊来喝的时候，牝牡配合。 39 羊对着枝子配合，就生下有纹的、有点的、有斑的来。 40 雅各把羊羔分出来，使拉班的羊与这有纹和黑色的羊相对，把自己的羊另放一处，不叫他和拉班的羊混杂。 41 到羊群肥壮配合的时候，雅各就把枝子插在水沟里，使羊对着枝子配合， 42 只是到羊瘦弱配合的时候就不插枝子。这样，瘦弱的就归拉班，肥壮的就归雅各。 43 于是雅各极其发达，得了许多的羊群、仆婢、骆驼和驴。

30 Cuando Raquel vio que no le podía dar hijos a Jacob, le dieron celos de su hermana. Entonces le dijo a Jacob:
—Si no me das hijos, me moriré.
2 Jacob se enojó mucho con Raquel y le dijo:
—Yo no soy Dios, él es el que no te ha dejado tener hijos.
3 Luego Raquel dijo:
—Toma a mi sierva Bilhá como concubina, ten relaciones sexuales con ella y ella dará a luz a un hijo para mí. De esa manera podré tener hijos por medio de ella.
4 Entonces Raquel le dio su sierva Bilhá a Jacob. Jacob tuvo relaciones sexuales con ella, 5 Bilhá quedó embarazada y dio a luz a un hijo para Jacob.
6 Raquel dijo: «Dios ha escuchado mis oraciones y ha decidido darme un hijo». Por esta razón, Raquel llamó a su hijo Dan[a].
7 Bilhá, la sierva de Raquel, volvió a quedar embarazada y le dio a Jacob un segundo hijo. 8 Raquel dijo: «Peleé duro para competir con mi hermana, y yo gané». Entonces lo llamó Neftalí[b].
9 Cuando Lea vio que ya no podía tener más hijos, tomó a su sierva Zilpá y se la dio a Jacob como concubina. 10 Entonces Zilpá, la sierva de Lea, le dio un hijo a Jacob. 11 Lea dijo: «Tengo suerte», y por eso lo llamó Gad[c]. 12 La sierva de Lea, Zilpá, le dio a Jacob un segundo hijo. 13 Lea dijo: «¡Estoy feliz! Ahora las mujeres me llamarán feliz». Entonces lo llamó Aser[d].
14 Durante la cosecha de trigo, Rubén se fue al campo, encontró unas plantas llamadas mandrágoras[e] y se las llevó a su mamá, Lea. Entonces Raquel le dijo a Lea:
—Te ruego que me des de las mandrágoras de tu hijo.
15 Pero Lea le dijo:
—Tú me quitaste a mi esposo. ¿Ahora me quieres quitar también las mandrágoras de mi hijo?
Entonces Raquel dijo:
—Si me das las mandrágoras de tu hijo, podrás dormir con Jacob esta noche.
16 Cuando Jacob regresó del campo esa tarde, Lea salió a encontrarse con él. Ella le dijo: «Esta noche tú tendrás relaciones sexuales conmigo. Pagué por ti con las mandrágoras de mi hijo». Entonces Jacob durmió esa noche con Lea.
17 Dios escuchó las oraciones de Lea, quedó embarazada y dio a luz a su quinto hijo de Jacob. 18 Lea dijo: «Dios me ha premiado por haberle dado mi sierva a mi esposo». Por esta razón lo llamó Isacar[f].
19 Lea volvió a quedar embarazada y dio a luz a su sexto hijo. 20 Ella dijo: «Dios me ha dado un gran regalo. Ahora con seguridad Jacob me va a querer por haberle dado seis hijos». Entonces lo llamó Zabulón[g]. 21 Después Lea dio a luz a una hija a la que llamó Dina.
22 Dios se acordó de Raquel, escuchó sus plegarias y le permitió tener hijos. 23 Raquel quedó embarazada, dio a luz a un hijo y después dijo: «Dios me ha quitado mi vergüenza». 24 A su hijo le puso de nombre José[h]. Ella dijo: «Ojalá el SEÑOR me deje tener otro hijo».
Jacob engaña a Labán
25 Cuando Raquel dio a luz a José, Jacob le dijo a Labán:
—Déjame regresar a mi propio hogar. 26 Dame mis esposas y mis hijos y me iré; me los he ganado por trabajar para ti, tú sabes que he trabajado bien.
27 Labán le dijo:
—Si me permites decirlo, he concluido que el SEÑOR me ha bendecido gracias a ti. 28 Dime cuánto te debo pagar y eso te pagaré.
29 Jacob respondió:
—Tú sabes lo duro que he trabajado para ti y cómo he cuidado tus rebaños. 30 Cuando yo llegué tú tenías muy poco, ahora tienes muchísimo más. Cada vez que yo hice algo para ti, el SEÑOR te bendijo. Ahora es tiempo de que yo me preocupe por mí y por mi familia.
31 Labán preguntó:
—¿Qué tengo que darte?
Jacob respondió:
—No tienes que darme nada si haces esto para mí. Yo volveré a alimentar y cuidar a tus ovejas, 32 pero déjame caminar esta noche entre todos tus rebaños. Dame todas las ovejas, machos y hembras, que estén manchadas o rayadas, y todos los corderos negros. Ese será mi salario. 33 Después podrás revisar si fui honesto contigo. Puedes ir a ver mis rebaños y si encuentras alguna oveja, macho o hembra, que no esté manchada o algún cordero que no sea negro, sabrás que te lo robé.
34 Labán respondió:
—¡Acepto! Que sea como tú dices.
35 Pero ese día Labán escondió todas las ovejas manchadas, machos y hembras, y todos los corderos negros, y les dijo a sus hijos que los cuidaran. 36 Después Labán se llevó esos animales a tres días de distancia de Jacob. Jacob se quedó cuidando todos los otros animales que quedaban.
37 Entonces Jacob cortó unas ramas frescas de álamo, almendro y castaño, y las peló para que se pudieran ver rayas blancas. 38 Luego colocó las ramas que había pelado en frente de los rebaños en el sitio donde iban a tomar agua. Las ovejas se apareaban cuando iban a tomar agua. 39 Cuando las ovejas se apareaban en frente de las ramas, tenían crías manchadas, rayadas o negras. 40 Entonces Jacob las separó y las puso frente a los animales rayados y negros del rebaño de Labán. Así Jacob fue formando su propio rebaño, separándolo del rebaño de Labán. 41 Cada vez que los animales más fuertes del rebaño se apareaban, Jacob les ponía las ramas peladas en frente de sus ojos para que las vieran cuando se apareaban. 42 Pero Jacob no ponía las ramas en frente de las ovejas más débiles. De esta manera, las ovejas fuertes eran las de Jacob y las débiles las de Labán. 43 Así, Jacob se volvió un hombre muy rico. Tenía muchos rebaños, esclavos, esclavas, camellos y burros.
