Nagkasala ang Tao
3 Ang(A) ahas ang pinakatuso sa lahat ng hayop na nilikha ng Panginoong Yahweh. Isang araw tinanong nito ang babae, “Totoo bang sinabi ng Diyos na huwag kayong kakain ng anumang bungangkahoy sa halamanan?”
2 Sumagot ang babae, “Maaari naming kainin ang anumang bunga sa halamanan, 3 huwag lamang ang bunga ng puno na nasa gitna niyon. Sinabi ng Diyos na huwag naming kakainin ni hihipuin man ang bunga nito; kung kami raw ay kakain nito, mamamatay kami.”
4 Ngunit sinabi ng ahas, “Hindi totoo iyan, hindi kayo mamamatay! 5 Sinabi lang iyan ng Diyos, sapagkat alam niyang kung kakain kayo ng bunga niyon ay makakaunawa kayo. Kayo'y magiging parang Diyos at malalaman ninyo ang mabuti at masama.”
6 Ang punongkahoy ay napakaganda sa paningin ng babae at sa palagay niya'y masarap ang bunga nito. Naisip din niya na kahanga-hanga ang maging marunong, kaya't pumitas siya ng bunga at kumain nito. Binigyan niya ang kanyang asawa, at kumain din ito. 7 Nagkaroon nga sila ng pagkaunawa matapos kumain. Noon nila nalamang sila'y hubad, kaya kumuha sila ng mga dahon ng igos, pinagtahi-tahi nila ang mga ito at ginawang panakip sa katawan.
8 Nang dapit-hapon na, narinig nilang naglalakad sa halamanan ang Panginoong Yahweh, kaya't nagtago sila sa mga puno. 9 Ngunit tinawag niya ang lalaki at tinanong, “Saan ka naroon?”
10 “Natakot po ako nang marinig kong kayo'y nasa halamanan; nagtago po ako sapagkat ako'y hubad,” sagot ng lalaki.
11 Nagtanong muli ang Diyos, “Sinong maysabi sa iyong hubad ka? Bakit, kumain ka ba ng bungang ipinagbabawal ko?”
12 “Kasi, pinakain po ako ng babaing ibinigay ninyo sa akin,” tugon ng lalaki.
13 “Bakit(B) mo ginawa ang bagay na iyon?” tanong ng Panginoong Yahweh sa babae.
“Mangyari po'y nilinlang ako ng ahas, kaya ako natuksong kumain,” sagot naman nito.
Inihayag ng Diyos ang Kaparusahan
14 At sinabi ng Panginoong Yahweh sa ahas:
“Sa iyong ginawa'y may parusang dapat,
na ikaw lang sa lahat ng hayop ang magdaranas;
mula ngayon ikaw ay gagapang,
at ang pagkain mo'y alikabok lamang.
15 Kayo(C) ng babae'y aking pag-aawayin,
binhi mo't binhi niya'y lagi kong paglalabanin.
Ang binhi niya ang dudurog sa iyong ulo,
at sa sakong niya'y ikaw ang tutuklaw.”
16 Sa babae nama'y ito ang sinabi:
“Sa pagbubuntis mo'y hirap ang daranasin,
at sa panganganak sakit ay titiisin;
ang asawang lalaki'y iyong nanasain,
pasasakop ka sa kanya't siya mong susundin.”
17 Ito(D) naman ang sinabi ng Diyos kay Adan:
“Dahil nakinig ka sa iyong asawa,
nang iyong kainin ang ipinagbawal kong bunga;
dahil dito'y sinusumpa ko ang lupa,
sa hirap ng pagbubungkal, pagkain mo'y magmumula.
18 Mga damo at tinik ang iyong aanihin,
halaman sa gubat ang iyong kakainin;
19 sa pagod at pawis pagkain mo'y manggagaling
maghihirap ka hanggang sa malibing.
Dahil sa alabok, doon ka nanggaling,
sa lupang alabok ay babalik ka rin.”
20 Eva[a] ang itinawag ni Adan sa kanyang asawa, sapagkat siya ang ina ng sangkatauhan. 21 Ang mag-asawa'y iginawa niya ng mga damit na yari sa balat ng hayop.
Pinalayas sa Hardin si Adan at si Eva
22 Pagkatapos,(E) sinabi ng Panginoong Yahweh, “Katulad na natin ngayon ang tao, sapagkat alam na niya ang mabuti at masama. Baka pumitas siya at kumain ng bungangkahoy na nagbibigay-buhay at hindi na siya mamatay.” 23 Kaya, pinalayas niya sa halamanan ng Eden ang tao upang magbungkal ng lupang kanyang pinagmulan.
24 Pinalayas nga siya ng Diyos. At sa dakong silangan ng halamanan ng Eden ay naglagay ang Diyos ng bantay na kerubin. Naglagay rin siya ng espadang nagniningas na umiikot sa lahat ng panig upang hindi malapitan ninuman ang punongkahoy ng buhay.

3 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

The Temptation and Fall of Man(A)
3 Now (B)the serpent was (C)more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”
2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the (D)fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you (E)touch it, lest you die.’ ”
4 (F)Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
6 So when the woman (G)saw that the tree was good for food, that it was [a]pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit (H)and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, (I)and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves [b]coverings.
8 And they heard (J)the [c]sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the [d]cool of the day, and Adam and his wife (K)hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
9 Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”
10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, (L)and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”
12 Then the man said, (M)“The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.”
13 And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”
The woman said, (N)“The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
14 So the Lord God said to the serpent:
“Because you have done this,
You are cursed more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you shall go,
And (O)you shall eat dust
All the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between (P)your seed and (Q)her Seed;
(R)He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”
16 To the woman He said:
“I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception;
(S)In pain you shall bring forth children;
(T)Your desire shall be [e]for your husband,
And he shall (U)rule over you.”
17 Then to Adam He said, (V)“Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree (W)of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’:
(X)“Cursed is the ground for your sake;
(Y)In toil you shall eat of it
All the days of your life.
18 Both thorns and thistles it shall [f]bring forth for you,
And (Z)you shall eat the herb of the field.
19 (AA)In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread
Till you return to the ground,
For out of it you were taken;
(AB)For dust you are,
And (AC)to dust you shall return.”
20 And Adam called his wife’s name (AD)Eve,[g] because she was the mother of all living.
21 Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.
22 Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— 23 therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden (AE)to till the ground from which he was taken. 24 So (AF)He drove out the man; and He placed (AG)cherubim (AH)at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of (AI)life.
