22 Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of (A)Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from (B)the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— 23 therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to cultivate the ground from which he was taken. 24 So (C)He drove the man out; and at the (D)east of the garden of Eden He stationed the (E)cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to guard the way to (F)the tree of life.

17 “You shall (A)make a [a]mercy seat of pure gold, two and a half [b]cubits [c]long and one and a half cubits [d]wide. 18 You shall make two cherubim of gold, make them of hammered work [e]at the two ends of the mercy seat. 19 Make one cherub [f]at one end and one cherub [g]at the other end; you shall make the cherubim of one piece with the mercy seat at its two ends. 20 (B)The cherubim shall have their wings spread upward, covering the mercy seat with their wings and [h]facing one another; the faces of the cherubim are to be turned toward the mercy seat. 21 (C)You shall put the mercy seat [i]on top of the ark, and (D)in the ark you shall put the testimony which I will give to you. 22 (E)There I will meet with you; and from above the mercy seat, from (F)between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, I will speak to you about all that I will give you in commandment for the sons of Israel.
