³¹ When the Lord saw that Leah was ^(A)hated, ^(B)he opened her womb, but Rachel was barren.

²² Then God ^(A)remembered Rachel, and God listened to her and ^(B)opened her womb.

³⁰ Now Sarai was barren; she had no child.

²¹ And Isaac prayed to the Lord for his wife, because she was barren. And ^(A)the Lord granted his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

² He had two wives. The name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other, Peninnah. And Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

¹¹ One day he came there, and he turned into the chamber and rested there. ¹² And he said to ^(A)Gehazi his servant, “Call this Shunammite.” When he had called her, she stood before him. ¹³ And he said to him, “Say now to her, ‘See, you have taken all this trouble for us; what is to be done for you? Would you have a word spoken on your behalf to the king or to ^(B)the commander of the army?’” She answered, “I dwell among my own people.” ¹⁴ And he said, “What then is to be done for her?” Gehazi answered, “Well, she has no son, and her husband is old.” ¹⁵ He said, “Call her.” And when he had called her, she stood in the doorway.

⁷ But they had no child, because ^(A)Elizabeth was barren, and ^(B)both were advanced in years.
