Genesis 29:20-25
New International Version
20 So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel,(A) but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her.(B)
21 Then Jacob said to Laban, “Give me my wife. My time is completed, and I want to make love to her.(C)”
22 So Laban brought together all the people of the place and gave a feast.(D) 23 But when evening came, he took his daughter Leah(E) and brought her to Jacob, and Jacob made love to her. 24 And Laban gave his servant Zilpah(F) to his daughter as her attendant.(G)
25 When morning came, there was Leah! So Jacob said to Laban, “What is this you have done to me?(H) I served you for Rachel, didn’t I? Why have you deceived me?(I)”
Genesis 31:7
New International Version
7 yet your father has cheated(A) me by changing my wages(B) ten times.(C) However, God has not allowed him to harm me.(D)
Genesis 37:32-36
New International Version
32 They took the ornate robe(A) back to their father and said, “We found this. Examine it to see whether it is your son’s robe.”
33 He recognized it and said, “It is my son’s robe! Some ferocious animal(B) has devoured him. Joseph has surely been torn to pieces.”(C)
34 Then Jacob tore his clothes,(D) put on sackcloth(E) and mourned for his son many days.(F) 35 All his sons and daughters came to comfort him,(G) but he refused to be comforted.(H) “No,” he said, “I will continue to mourn until I join my son(I) in the grave.(J)” So his father wept for him.
