Esau Marries an Ishmaelite
6 Now Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Paddan-aram to take a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he directed him, “You must not take a wife from the Canaanite women,” 7 and that Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother and gone to Paddan-aram. 8 So when Esau saw (A)that the Canaanite women did not please Isaac his father, 9 Esau went to Ishmael and took as his wife, besides the wives he had, (B)Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham's son, the sister of (C)Nebaioth.

6 Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him off to Paddan Aram to find a wife there.[a] As he blessed him,[b] Isaac commanded him, “You must not marry a Canaanite woman.”[c] 7 Jacob obeyed his father and mother and left for Paddan Aram. 8 Then Esau realized[d] that the Canaanite women[e] were displeasing to[f] his father Isaac. 9 So Esau went to Ishmael and married[g] Mahalath, the sister of Nebaioth and daughter of Abraham’s son Ishmael, along with the wives he already had.
