¹⁵ Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, ¹⁶ and said: ^(A)“By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son— ¹⁷ blessing I will ^(B)bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants ^(C)as the stars of the heaven ^(D)and as the sand which is on the seashore; and ^(E)your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. ^18 (F)In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, ^(G)because you have obeyed My voice.”

¹² Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year ^(A)a hundredfold; and the Lord ^(B)blessed him. ¹³ The man ^(C)began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous; ¹⁴ for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. So the Philistines ^(D)envied him.

^9 (A)Then Jacob said, ^(B)“O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, the Lord ^(C)who said to me, ‘Return to your country and to your family, and I will deal well with you’: ¹⁰ I am not worthy of the least of all the ^(D)mercies and of all the truth which You have shown Your servant; for I crossed over this Jordan with ^(E)my staff, and now I have become two companies.
