¹¹ But the angel of the Lord^(A) called out to him from heaven,^(B) “Abraham! Abraham!”^(C)

“Here I am,”^(D) he replied.

¹² “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God,^(E) because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.^(F)”

¹³ Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram^[a] caught by its horns.^(G) He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.^{(H) 14} So Abraham called^(I) that place The Lord^(J) Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.^(K)”

⁹ This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son^(A) into the world that we might live through him.^{(B) 10} This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us^(C) and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.^(D)
