¹³ And when ^(A)God caused me to wander from my father's house, I said to her, ‘This is the kindness you must do me: at every place to which we come, ^(B)say of me, “He is my brother.”’”

⁷ and there he built an altar and called the place El-bethel,^[a] because ^(A)there God had revealed himself to him when he fled from his brother.

^4 (A)And he received the gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden^[a] calf. And they said, ^(B)“These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!”

¹⁸ Even ^(A)when they had made for themselves a golden^[a] calf and said, ‘This is your God who brought you up out of Egypt,’ ^(B)and had committed great blasphemies,
