2 Nayari ang langit at ang lupa, at ang lahat ng mga bagay sa mga iyon.
2 Nang(A)(B) ikapitong araw ay natapos ng Diyos ang gawain na kanyang ginawa, at nagpahinga siya nang ikapitong araw mula sa lahat ng gawaing kanyang ginawa.
3 At binasbasan ng Diyos ang ikapitong araw at kanyang ginawang banal, sapagkat sa araw na iyon ay nagpahinga ang Diyos sa lahat ng gawain na kanyang ginawa.
4 Ito ang kasaysayan tungkol sa langit at lupa, sa araw na likhain ng Panginoong Diyos ang langit at lupa.
Ang Halamanan ng Eden
5 Nang sa lupa ay wala pang tanim sa parang, at wala pang damo na tumutubo sa parang,—sapagkat hindi pa nagpapaulan ang Panginoong Diyos sa lupa at wala pang taong nagbubungkal ng lupa,
6 ngunit may isang ulap[a] na pumaitaas buhat sa lupa at dinilig ang buong kapatagan ng lupa.
7 At(C) nilalang ng Panginoong Diyos ang tao mula sa alabok ng lupa, at hiningahan ang mga butas ng kanyang ilong ng hininga ng buhay; at ang tao ay naging buháy na kaluluwa.
8 Naglagay ang Panginoong Diyos ng isang halamanan sa silangan ng Eden, at inilagay niya roon ang taong kanyang nilalang.
9 At(D) pinatubo ng Panginoong Diyos sa lupa ang lahat ng punungkahoy na nakakalugod sa paningin, at mabuting kainin; gayundin ang punungkahoy ng buhay sa gitna ng halamanan, at ang punungkahoy ng pagkaalam ng mabuti at masama.
10 May isang ilog na lumabas mula sa Eden upang diligin ang halamanan, at mula roo'y nahati at naging apat na ilog.
11 Ang pangalan ng una ay Pishon na siyang umaagos sa palibot ng buong lupain ng Havila, na doo'y may ginto;
12 at ang ginto sa lupang iyon ay mabuti; mayroon doong bedelio at batong onix.
13 Ang pangalan ng ikalawang ilog ay Gihon; na siyang umaagos sa palibot ng buong lupain ng Cus.
14 Ang pangalan ng ikatlong ilog ay Tigris na siyang umaagos sa silangan ng Asiria. At ang ikaapat na ilog ay ang Eufrates.
15 Kinuha ng Panginoong Diyos ang lalaki at inilagay sa halamanan ng Eden upang ito ay kanyang bungkalin at ingatan.
16 At iniutos ng Panginoong Diyos sa lalaki, na sinabi, “Malaya kang makakakain mula sa lahat ng punungkahoy sa halamanan,
17 subalit mula sa punungkahoy ng pagkakilala ng mabuti at masama ay huwag kang kakain; sapagkat sa araw na ikaw ay kumain niyon ay tiyak na mamamatay ka.”
18 At sinabi ng Panginoong Diyos, “Hindi mabuti na ang lalaki ay nag-iisa; siya'y igagawa ko ng isang katuwang na nababagay sa kanya.”
19 Kaya't mula sa lupa ay nilalang ng Panginoong Diyos ang lahat ng hayop sa parang at ang lahat ng ibon sa himpapawid; at dinala sa lalaki upang malaman kung anong itatawag niya sa mga iyon. At anuman ang itawag ng lalaki sa bawat buháy na nilalang ay siyang pangalan nito.
20 At pinangalanan ng lalaki ang lahat ng hayop at ang mga ibon sa himpapawid, at ang bawat hayop sa parang; subalit para sa lalaki ay walang nakitang katuwang na nababagay para sa kanya.

21 Kaya't pinatulog nang mahimbing ng Panginoong Diyos ang lalaki, at habang siya'y natutulog, kinuha niya ang isa sa kanyang mga tadyang at pinaghilom ang laman sa lugar na iyon;
22 at ang tadyang na kinuha ng Panginoong Diyos sa lalaki ay ginawang isang babae, at dinala siya sa lalaki.
23 At sinabi ng lalaki,
“Sa wakas, ito'y buto ng aking mga buto
at laman ng aking laman.
Siya'y tatawaging Babae,
sapagkat sa Lalaki siya kinuha.”
24 Kaya't(E) iniiwan ng lalaki ang kanyang ama at ang kanyang ina, at pumipisan sa kanyang asawa; at sila'y nagiging isang laman.
25 Ang lalaki at ang kanyang asawa ay kapwa hubad, ngunit sila'y hindi nahihiya.

2 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.(A)
2 By the seventh day(B) God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.(C) 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy,(D) because on it he rested(E) from all the work of creating(F) that he had done.
Adam and Eve
4 This is the account(G) of the heavens and the earth when they were created,(H) when the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.
5 Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth[a] and no plant had yet sprung up,(I) for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth(J) and there was no one to work the ground, 6 but streams[b] came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground. 7 Then the Lord God formed(K) a man[c](L) from the dust(M) of the ground(N) and breathed into his nostrils the breath(O) of life,(P) and the man became a living being.(Q)
8 Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden;(R) and there he put the man he had formed. 9 The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees(S) that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life(T) and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.(U)
10 A river(V) watering the garden flowed from Eden;(W) from there it was separated into four headwaters. 11 The name of the first is the Pishon; it winds through the entire land of Havilah,(X) where there is gold. 12 (The gold of that land is good; aromatic resin[d](Y) and onyx are also there.) 13 The name of the second river is the Gihon; it winds through the entire land of Cush.[e] 14 The name of the third river is the Tigris;(Z) it runs along the east side of Ashur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.(AA)
15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden(AB) to work it and take care of it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;(AC) 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,(AD) for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”(AE)
18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”(AF)
19 Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals(AG) and all the birds in the sky.(AH) He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called(AI) each living creature,(AJ) that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.
But for Adam[f] no suitable helper(AK) was found. 21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep;(AL) and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs[g] and then closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib[h](AM) he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
23 The man said,
“This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;(AN)
she shall be called(AO) ‘woman,’
for she was taken out of man.(AP)”
24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united(AQ) to his wife, and they become one flesh.(AR)
25 Adam and his wife were both naked,(AS) and they felt no shame.

2 Thus the heavens and the Earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2 For on the seventh day, God ended His work which He had made. And the seventh day, He rested from all His work which He had made.
3 So God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it; because on it, He had rested from all His work which God created and made.
4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the Earth - when they were created, on the day that the LORD God made the Earth and the heavens -
5 and every shrub of the field before it was in the earth; and every plant of the field, before it grew. For the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, nor was there a man to till the ground,
6 But a mist went up from the Earth; and watered all the Earth.
7 The LORD God also made the man from the dust of the ground and breathed in his face breath of life. And the man was a living soul.
8 And the LORD God planted a garden, eastward in Eden. And there He put the man whom He had made.
9 For out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the Tree of Life also in the midst of the garden and the Tree of Knowledge (of good and of evil).
10 And out of Eden went a river to water the garden. And from there it was divided and became four heads.
11 The name of the first, Pishon. The same runs through the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.
12 And the gold of that land is good. There is bdellium and the onyx stone.
13 And the name of the second river, Gihon. The same runs through the whole land of Cush.
14 And the name of the third river, Hiddekel. This goes toward the east side of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden, so that he might dress it and keep it.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “You shall eat freely from every tree of the garden.
17 “But from the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat. For on the day that you eat of it, you shall surely die.”
18 Also the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make a perfect mate for him.”
19 So the LORD God formed from the earth every wild animal, and every bird of the sky; and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. For whatever the man named the living creature, so was its name.
20 Therefore, the man gave names to all cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every wild animal. But Adam found no perfect mate for himself.
21 Therefore, the LORD God caused a heavy sleep to fall upon the man. And he slept. And he took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh in its place.
22 And with the rib which the LORD God had taken from the man, he made a woman. And he brought her to the man.
23 Then the man said, “This, now, is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called ‘woman’, because she was taken out of the man.
24 “Therefore, man shall leave his father and his mother and shall cling to his wife. And they shall be one flesh.”
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife. And they were not ashamed.
