The Sign of the Covenant^(A)

17 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord ^(B)appeared to Abram and said to him, ^(C)“I am ^[a]Almighty God; ^(D)walk before Me and be ^(E)blameless.

²² Then He finished talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.

⁹ Then ^(A)God appeared to Jacob again, when he came from Padan Aram, and ^(B)blessed him. ¹⁰ And God said to him, “Your name is Jacob; ^(C)your name shall not be called Jacob anymore, ^(D)but Israel shall be your name.” So He called his name Israel. ¹¹ Also God said to him: ^(E)“I am God Almighty. ^(F)Be fruitful and multiply; ^(G)a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body. ¹² The ^(H)land which I gave Abraham and Isaac I give to you; and to your descendants after you I give this land.” ¹³ Then God ^(I)went^[a] up from him in the place where He talked with him.

² And God spoke to Moses and said to him: “I am ^[a]the Lord. ^3 (A)I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as ^(B)God Almighty, but by My name ^(C)Lord^[b] I was not known to them.
