⁷ The angel of the Lord^(A) found her by a spring in the wilderness, the spring on the way to Shur.

¹¹ But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!”

He replied, “Here I am.”

² Then the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire within a bush.^(A) As Moses looked, he saw that the bush was on fire but was not consumed.

Midian Oppresses Israel

6 The Israelites did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.^(A) So the Lord handed^(B) them over to Midian seven years,

³ The angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her, “Although you are unable to conceive and have no children, you will conceive and give birth to a son.

¹⁶ Then the angel extended his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it,^(A) but the Lord relented concerning the destruction^(B) and said to the angel who was destroying^(C) the people, “Enough, withdraw your hand now!” The angel of the Lord was then at the threshing floor of Araunah^[a] the Jebusite.^(D)

⁷ Then the angel of the Lord^(A) returned for a second time and touched him. He said, “Get up and eat, or the journey will be too much for you.”
