3 Hij zal alles van mij erven, omdat U mij geen kinderen heeft gegeven." 4 Maar de Heer zei tegen hem: "Niet hij zal alles erven, maar jouw eigen zoon zal alles erven." 5 Toen bracht de Heer hem naar buiten en zei: "Kijk eens omhoog naar de hemel. Tel de sterren, als je kan." En Hij zei tegen hem: "Kijk, zo ontelbaar groot zal jouw familie worden."

3 Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed (A)one[a] born in my house is my heir!”
4 And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who (B)will come from your own body shall be your heir.” 5 Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and (C)count the (D)stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, (E)“So shall your (F)descendants be.”

3 অব্রাম বললেন, “আপনি আমায় পুত্র দেননি। তাই যে দাস আমার ঘরে জন্ম লাভ করেছে সে-ই পাবে আমার সমস্ত ধনসম্পত্তি।”
4 তখন প্রভু অব্রামের সঙ্গে কথা বললেন। ঈশ্বর বললেন, “ঐ দাস তোমার নিজের পুত্র হবে। এবং তোমার ঔরসজাত পুত্রই তোমার সমস্ত কিছুর উত্তরাধিকার পাবে।”
5 তখন ঈশ্বর অব্রামকে বাইরে ডেকে নিয়ে গেলেন। ঈশ্বর বললেন, “আকাশের দিকে তাকাও। দেখ, সেখানে কত তারা। এত তারা যে তুমি গুণতেই পারবে না। ভবিষ্যতে তোমার বংশধররাও ঐরকম অগুনতি হবে।”

4 Then the word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.(C)” 5 He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars(D)—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring[a] be.”(E)
