¹³ Then He said to Abram: “Know certainly ^(A)that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and ^(B)they will afflict them four hundred years. ¹⁴ And also the nation whom they serve ^(C)I will judge; afterward ^(D)they shall come out with great possessions. ¹⁵ Now as for you, ^(E)you shall ^[a]go ^(F)to your fathers in peace; ^(G)you shall be buried at a good old age. ¹⁶ But ^(H)in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity ^(I)of the Amorites ^(J)is not yet complete.”

^24 (A)‘Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; ^(B)for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you. ²⁵ For ^(C)the land is defiled; therefore I ^(D)visit^[a] the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land ^(E)vomits out its inhabitants.

³ And ^(A)I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and ^(B)multiply My ^(C)signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt. ⁴ But ^(D)Pharaoh will not heed you, so ^(E)that I may lay My hand on Egypt and bring My ^[a]armies and My people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt ^(F)by great judgments.
