¹³ Then He said to Abram: “Know certainly ^(A)that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and ^(B)they will afflict them four hundred years. ¹⁴ And also the nation whom they serve ^(C)I will judge; afterward ^(D)they shall come out with great possessions.

⁵ And ^(A)I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant. ⁶ Therefore say to the children of Israel: ^(B)‘I am the Lord; ^(C)I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will ^(D)rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with ^[a]an outstretched arm and with great judgments.

^36 (A)And the Lord had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they granted them what they requested. Thus ^(B)they plundered the Egyptians.
