Genesis 13:5-13
New King James Version
5 Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks and herds and tents. 6 Now (A)the land was not able to [a]support them, that they might dwell together, for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together. 7 And there was (B)strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. (C)The Canaanites and the Perizzites then dwelt in the land.
8 So Abram said to Lot, (D)“Please let there be no strife between you and me, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren. 9 (E)Is not the whole land before you? Please (F)separate from me. (G)If you take the left, then I will go to the right; or, if you go to the right, then I will go to the left.”
10 And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all (H)the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere (before the Lord (I)destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah) (J)like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt as you go toward (K)Zoar. 11 Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And they separated from each other. 12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot (L)dwelt in the cities of the plain and (M)pitched his tent even as far as Sodom. 13 But the men of Sodom (N)were exceedingly wicked and (O)sinful against the Lord.

5 And Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents, 6 so that (A)the land could not support both of them dwelling together; for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together, 7 (B)and there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram's livestock and the herdsmen of Lot's livestock. At that time (C)the Canaanites and the Perizzites were dwelling in the land.
8 Then Abram said to Lot, (D)“Let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen, (E)for we are kinsmen.[a] 9 (F)Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself from me. If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right, or if you take the right hand, then I will go to the left.” 10 And Lot lifted up his eyes and saw that the (G)Jordan Valley was well watered everywhere like (H)the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, in the direction of (I)Zoar. (This was before the Lord (J)destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.) 11 So Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley, and Lot journeyed east. Thus they separated from each other. 12 Abram settled in the land of Canaan, while Lot settled among the cities of the valley and moved his tent as far as Sodom. 13 Now the men of Sodom (K)were wicked, great sinners against the Lord.

5 Now Lot,(A) who was moving about with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents. 6 But the land could not support them while they stayed together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together.(B) 7 And quarreling(C) arose between Abram’s herders and Lot’s. The Canaanites(D) and Perizzites(E) were also living in the land(F) at that time.
8 So Abram said to Lot,(G) “Let’s not have any quarreling between you and me,(H) or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives.(I) 9 Is not the whole land before you? Let’s part company. If you go to the left, I’ll go to the right; if you go to the right, I’ll go to the left.”(J)
10 Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain(K) of the Jordan toward Zoar(L) was well watered, like the garden of the Lord,(M) like the land of Egypt.(N) (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom(O) and Gomorrah.)(P) 11 So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company: 12 Abram lived in the land of Canaan,(Q) while Lot(R) lived among the cities of the plain(S) and pitched his tents near Sodom.(T) 13 Now the people of Sodom(U) were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord.(V)
