Genesis 11:8-10
Common English Bible
8 Then the Lord dispersed them from there over all of the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9 Therefore, it is named Babel, because there the Lord mixed up[a] the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord dispersed them over all the earth.
Shem’s descendants
10 These are Shem’s descendants.
When Shem was 100 years old, he became the father of Arpachshad, two years after the flood.

New International Version
8 So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth,(A) and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel[a](B)—because there the Lord confused the language(C) of the whole world.(D) From there the Lord scattered(E) them over the face of the whole earth.
