Genesis 11:3-5
GOD’S WORD Translation
3 They said to one another, “Let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used bricks as stones and tar [a] as mortar.
4 Then they said, “Let’s build a city for ourselves and a tower with its top in the sky. Let’s make a name for ourselves so that we won’t become scattered all over the face of the earth.”
5 The Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the descendants of Adam were building.

3 Then they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and [a]bake them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. 4 And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower (A)whose top is in the heavens; let us make a (B)name for ourselves, lest we (C)be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”
5 (D)But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built.

4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
5 And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
