²⁶ Now Terah lived seventy years, and ^(A)begot ^[a]Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

Terah’s Descendants

²⁷ This is the genealogy of Terah: Terah begot ^(B)Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran begot Lot. ²⁸ And Haran died before his father Terah in his native land, in Ur of the Chaldeans. ²⁹ Then Abram and Nahor took wives: the name of Abram’s wife was ^(C)Sarai,^[b] and the name of Nahor’s wife, ^(D)Milcah, the daughter of Haran the father of Milcah and the father of Iscah. ³⁰ But ^(E)Sarai was barren; she had no child.

³¹ And Terah ^(F)took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram’s wife, and they went out with them from ^(G)Ur of the Chaldeans to go to ^(H)the land of Canaan; and they came to Haran and dwelt there.

⁷ Then He said to him, “I am the Lord, who ^(A)brought you out of ^(B)Ur of the Chaldeans, ^(C)to give you this land to inherit it.”

¹⁰ Then the servant took ten of his master’s camels and departed, ^(A)for all his master’s goods were in his hand. And he arose and went to Mesopotamia, to ^(B)the city of Nahor.

¹⁵ And it happened, ^(A)before he had finished speaking, that behold, ^(B)Rebekah,^[a] who was born to Bethuel, son of ^(C)Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, came out with her pitcher on her shoulder.

^17 (A)Therefore He brought against them the king of the Chaldeans, who ^(B)killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, on the aged or the weak; He gave them all into his hand.

² And he said, ^(A)“Brethren and fathers, listen: The ^(B)God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in ^(C)Haran, ³ and said to him, ^(D)‘Get out of your country and from your relatives, and come to a land that I will show you.’

The Fall of Babylon the Great

18 After^(A) these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, ^(B)and the earth was illuminated with his glory. ² And he cried ^[a]mightily with a loud voice, saying, ^(C)“Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and ^(D)has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and ^(E)a cage for every unclean and hated bird! ³ For all the nations ^(F)have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, ^(G)and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the ^[b]abundance of her luxury.”

⁴ And I heard another voice from heaven saying, ^(H)“Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.
