Genesis 1:29-31

New International Version

²⁹Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.^(A) ³⁰And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life^(B) in it—I give every green plant for food.^(C)” And it was so.

³¹God saw all that he had made,^(D) and it was very good.^(E) And there was evening, and there was morning^(F)—the sixth day.

Daniel 1:11-16

New International Version

¹¹Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, ¹²“Please test^(A) your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. ¹³Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.”^(B) ¹⁴So he agreed to this and tested^(C) them for ten days.

¹⁵At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food.^(D) ¹⁶So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead.^(E)
