²⁹ God also said, “Look, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the surface of the entire earth and every tree whose fruit contains seed. This food will be for you,^(A)

³⁰ for all the wildlife of the earth, for every bird of the sky, and for every creature that crawls on the earth—everything having the breath of life in it. I have given every green plant for food.”^(A) And it was so.

¹⁶ And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree of the garden,^(A)

God’s Covenant with Noah

9 God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.^{(A) 2} The fear and terror of you will be in every living creature on the earth, every bird of the sky, every creature that crawls on the ground, and all the fish of the sea. They are placed under your authority.^{[a] 3} Every living creature will be food for you;^(B) as I gave the green plants, I have given you everything.^(C)

¹⁴ And Abraham named that place The Lord Will Provide,^[a] so today it is said: “It will be provided^[b] on the Lord’s mountain.”

¹⁷ I will indeed bless you^(A) and make your offspring as numerous as the stars of the sky^(B) and the sand on the seashore.^(C) Your offspring will possess the gates of their enemies.^(D)

⁴ I will make your offspring as numerous as the stars of the sky, I will give your offspring all these lands, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed^[a] by your offspring,^(A)

⁵ because Abraham listened to My voice and kept My mandate, My commands, My statutes, and My instructions.”^(A)
