²⁶ Then God said, “Let ^(A)Us make ^(B)man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them ^(C)rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the ^[a]sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” ²⁷ God created man ^(D)in His own image, in the image of God He created him; ^(E)male and female He created them.

²² Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of ^(A)Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from ^(B)the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”—

⁴ They said, “Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top ^(A)will reach into heaven, and let us make for ourselves ^(B)a name, otherwise we ^(C)will be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” ^5 (D)The Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. ⁶ The Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have ^[a](E)the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be ^[b]impossible for them. ⁷ Come, ^(F)let Us go down and there ^(G)confuse their ^[c]language, so that they will not understand one another’s ^[d]speech.”
