7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee(A) from your presence?
61 The Spirit(A) of the Sovereign Lord(B) is on me,
because the Lord has anointed(C) me
to proclaim good news(D) to the poor.(E)
He has sent me to bind up(F) the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom(G) for the captives(H)
and release from darkness for the prisoners,[a]
2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor(I)
and the day of vengeance(J) of our God,
to comfort(K) all who mourn,(L)
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown(M) of beauty
instead of ashes,(N)
the oil(O) of joy
instead of mourning,(P)
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting(Q) of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.(R)
28 “And afterward,
I will pour out my Spirit(A) on all people.(B)
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,(C)
your old men will dream dreams,(D)
your young men will see visions.
29 Even on my servants,(E) both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days.(F)
30 I will show wonders in the heavens(G)
and on the earth,(H)
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
31 The sun will be turned to darkness(I)
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.(J)
32 And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord(K) will be saved;(L)
for on Mount Zion(M) and in Jerusalem
there will be deliverance,(N)
as the Lord has said,
even among the survivors(O)
whom the Lord calls.[a](P)
10 Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.(A)
35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you,(A) and the power of the Most High(B) will overshadow you. So the holy one(C) to be born will be called[a] the Son of God.(D)
4 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit,(B) left the Jordan(C) and was led by the Spirit(D) into the wilderness,
13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.”(A)
26 “When the Advocate(A) comes, whom I will send to you from the Father(B)—the Spirit of truth(C) who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.(D)
7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate(A) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.(B) 8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 about sin,(C) because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness,(D) because I am going to the Father,(E) where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world(F) now stands condemned.
12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.(G) 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth,(H) comes, he will guide you into all the truth.(I) He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you;(A) and you will be my witnesses(B) in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria,(C) and to the ends of the earth.”(D)
2 When the day of Pentecost(A) came, they were all together(B) in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.(C) 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit(D) and began to speak in other tongues[a](E) as the Spirit enabled them.
2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said,(A) “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work(B) to which I have called them.”(C)
9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh(A) but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you.(B) And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ,(C) they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you,(D) then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life[a] because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead(E) is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies(F) because of[b] his Spirit who lives in you.
4 in order that the righteous requirement(A) of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.(B)
5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires;(C) but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.(D) 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death,(E) but the mind governed by the Spirit is life(F) and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God;(G) it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh(H) cannot please God.
9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh(I) but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you.(J) And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ,(K) they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you,(L) then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life[a] because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead(M) is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies(N) because of[b] his Spirit who lives in you.
12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.(O) 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die;(P) but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body,(Q) you will live.(R)
14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God(S) are the children of God.(T) 15 The Spirit(U) you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again;(V) rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.[c] And by him we cry, “Abba,[d] Father.”(W) 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit(X) that we are God’s children.(Y)
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit(A) himself intercedes for us(B) through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts(C) knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes(D) for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple(A) and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?(B)
13 And you also were included in Christ(A) when you heard the message of truth,(B) the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal,(C) the promised Holy Spirit,(D) 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance(E) until the redemption(F) of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.(G)
21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God(A) as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.(B)
17 The Spirit(A) and the bride(B) say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.(C)
