⁶ Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude,^(A) like the roar of rushing waters^(B) and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:

The Beginning

³ The Son is the radiance of God’s glory^(A) and the exact representation of his being,^(B) sustaining all things^(C) by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins,^(D) he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.^(E)

⁸ But it was because the Lord loved^(A) you and kept the oath he swore^(B) to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand^(C) and redeemed^(D) you from the land of slavery,^(E) from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

³⁶ But the Lord, who brought you up out of Egypt with mighty power and outstretched arm,^(A) is the one you must worship. To him you shall bow down and to him offer sacrifices.

³⁰ That day the Lord saved^(A) Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. ³¹ And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand^(B) of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared^(C) the Lord and put their trust^(D) in him and in Moses his servant.

³ regarding his Son, who as to his earthly life^[a](A) was a descendant of David,^{(B) 4} and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power^[b](C) by his resurrection from the dead:^(D) Jesus Christ our Lord.^(E)

¹⁸ I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened^(A) in order that you may know the hope to which he has called^(B) you, the riches^(C) of his glorious inheritance^(D) in his holy people,^{(E) 19} and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power^(F) is the same as the mighty strength^{(G) 20} he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead^(H) and seated him at his right hand^(I) in the heavenly realms,^{(J) 21} far above all rule and authority, power and dominion,^(K) and every name^(L) that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.^(M)
