Genesis 9:3-6

³Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I have given everything to you, ^(A)as I gave the green plant. ⁴But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, ^(B)its blood. ⁵I certainly will require ^[a]^(C)your lifeblood; ^[b]^(D)from every animal I will require it. And ^[c]from every person, ^[d]from every man as his brother I will require the life of a person.

⁶^(E)Whoever sheds human blood,
By man his blood shall be shed,
For ^(F)in the image of God
He made mankind.

³Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you.^(A) Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.^(B)

⁴“But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.^(C) ⁵And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting.^(D) I will demand an accounting from every animal.^(E) And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being.^(F)

⁶“Whoever sheds human blood,
by humans shall their blood be shed;^(G)
for in the image of God^(H)
has God made mankind.
