Then Yahweh saw that the evil of man was great on the earth, and that (A)every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Now Noah was (A)six hundred years old when the flood of water [a]came upon the earth. Then (B)Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him entered the ark because of the water of the flood. (C)Of clean animals and animals that are not clean and birds and everything that creeps on the ground, [b]by twos they came to Noah into the ark, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. 10 Now it happened after (D)the seven days, that the water of the flood [c]came upon the earth. 11 In the (E)six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on this day all (F)the fountains of the great deep split open, and the [d]floodgates of the sky were opened. 12 (G)Then the rain [e]came upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.

13 On this very day (H)Noah and Shem and Ham and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark, 14 they and every beast after its kind, and all the cattle after [f]their kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind—every [g]fowl, every winged creature. 15 So they came to Noah into the ark, (I)by twos of all flesh in which was the breath of life. 16 And those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded him; and Yahweh closed it behind him.

17 Then the flood [h]came upon the earth for (J)forty days, and the water multiplied and lifted up the ark, so that it rose above the earth. 18 And the water prevailed and multiplied greatly upon the earth, and the ark went on the [i]surface of the water. 19 And the water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains under all the heavens were covered. 20 The water prevailed [j]fifteen cubits higher, (K)and the mountains were covered. 21 (L)And all flesh that [k]moved on the earth breathed its last, that is birds and cattle and beasts and every swarming thing that swarms upon the earth, as well as all mankind. 22 All (M)in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life—of all that was on the dry land—died. 23 Thus He blotted out [l]every living thing that was upon the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the [m]sky, and they were blotted out from the earth; and only (N)Noah remained, and those that were with him in the ark.

26 (A)And just as it was (B)in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 [a]It was the same as in (C)the days of Lot—they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building; 29 but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and [b]brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 It will be [c]just the same on the day that the Son of Man (D)is revealed. 31 On that day, the one who is (E)on the housetop and whose goods are in the house must not go down to take them out, and likewise the one who is in the field must not turn back. 32 (F)Remember Lot’s wife. 33 (G)Whoever seeks to keep his [d]life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. 34 I tell you, on that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left. 35 (H)There will be two women grinding grain at the same place; one will be taken and the other will be left. 36 [e][(I)Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other will be left.”] 37 And answering they *said to Him, “Where, Lord?” And He said to them, (J)Where the body is, there also the [f]vultures will be gathered.”
