11 Now the earth was (A)corrupt in the sight of God, and the earth was (B)filled with violence. 12 And God looked on the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for [a](C)humanity had corrupted its way upon the earth.

13 Then God said to Noah, “(D)The end of [b]humanity has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of [c]people; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth. 14 Make for yourself an ark of [d]gopher wood; you shall make the ark with compartments, and [e]cover it inside and out with pitch. 15 This is how you shall make it: the length of the ark shall be [f]three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. 16 You shall make a [g]window for the ark, and finish it to a [h]cubit from [i]the top; and put the door of the ark on the side; you shall make it with lower, second, and third decks. 17 Now behold, (E)I Myself am bringing the flood of water upon the earth, to destroy all flesh in which there is the breath of life, from under heaven; everything that is on the earth shall perish. 18 But I will establish (F)My covenant with you; and (G)you shall enter the ark—you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. 19 (H)And of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every kind into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. 20 (I)Of the birds according to their kind, and of the animals according to their kind, of every crawling thing of the ground according to its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive. 21 As for you, take for yourself some of every (J)food that is edible, and gather it to yourself; and it shall be food for you and them.” 22 (K)So Noah did these things; according to everything that God had commanded him, so he did.

The Flood

Then the Lord said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen to be (L)righteous before Me in this generation. You shall take [j]with you [k]seven pairs of every (M)clean animal, a male and his female; and two of the animals that are not clean, a male and his female; also of the birds of the sky, [l]seven pairs, male and female, to keep their [m]offspring alive on the face of all the earth. For after (N)seven more days, I will send rain on the earth for (O)forty days and forty nights; and I will wipe out from the face of the land (P)every living thing that I have made.” So (Q)Noah acted in accordance with everything that the Lord had commanded him.

Now Noah was (R)six hundred years old when the flood of water [n]came upon the earth. Then (S)Noah and his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives with him entered the ark because of the waters of the flood. (T)Of clean animals and animals that are not clean and birds and everything that crawls on the ground, they all went into the ark to Noah [o]by twos, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. 10 Now it came about after (U)the seven days, that the waters of the flood [p]came upon the earth. 11 In the (V)six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all (W)the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the [q]floodgates of the sky were opened. 12 (X)The rain [r]fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.

13 On this very same day (Y)Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark, 14 they and every animal according to its kind, and all the livestock according to [s]their kind, and every crawling thing that crawls on the earth according to its kind, and every bird according to its kind, [t]all sorts of birds. 15 So they went into the ark to Noah, (Z)by twos of all flesh in which there was the breath of life. 16 Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded him; and the Lord closed the door behind him.

17 Then the flood [u]came upon the earth for (AA)forty days, and the water increased and lifted up the ark, so that it rose above the earth. 18 The water prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth, and the ark [v]floated on the [w]surface of the water. 19 And the water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains [x]everywhere under the heavens were covered. 20 The water prevailed [y]fifteen cubits higher, (AB)and the mountains were covered. 21 So (AC)all [z]creatures that moved on the earth perished: birds, livestock, animals, and every swarming thing that swarms upon the earth, and all mankind; 22 of all that was on the dry land, all (AD)in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, died. 23 So He wiped out [aa]every living thing that was upon the face of the land, from mankind to animals, to crawling things, and the birds of the sky, and they were wiped out from the earth; and only (AE)Noah was left, together with those that were with him in the ark. 24 (AF)The water prevailed upon the earth for 150 days.

11 Now the earth was corrupt(A) in God’s sight and was full of violence.(B) 12 God saw how corrupt(C) the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways.(D) 13 So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy(E) both them and the earth.(F) 14 So make yourself an ark of cypress[a] wood;(G) make rooms in it and coat it with pitch(H) inside and out. 15 This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high.[b] 16 Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit[c] high all around.[d] Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks. 17 I am going to bring floodwaters(I) on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish.(J) 18 But I will establish my covenant with you,(K) and you will enter the ark(L)—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you. 19 You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you.(M) 20 Two(N) of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind(O) of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive.(P) 21 You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.”

22 Noah did everything just as God commanded him.(Q)

The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family,(R) because I have found you righteous(S) in this generation. Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean(T) animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive(U) throughout the earth. Seven days from now I will send rain(V) on the earth(W) for forty days(X) and forty nights,(Y) and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.(Z)

And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him.(AA)

Noah was six hundred years old(AB) when the floodwaters came on the earth. And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark(AC) to escape the waters of the flood. Pairs of clean and unclean(AD) animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.(AE) 10 And after the seven days(AF) the floodwaters came on the earth.

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life,(AG) on the seventeenth day of the second month(AH)—on that day all the springs of the great deep(AI) burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens(AJ) were opened. 12 And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.(AK)

13 On that very day Noah and his sons,(AL) Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark.(AM) 14 They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground according to its kind and every bird according to its kind,(AN) everything with wings. 15 Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark.(AO) 16 The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah.(AP) Then the Lord shut him in.

17 For forty days(AQ) the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. 18 The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. 19 They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered.(AR) 20 The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than fifteen cubits.[e][f] (AS) 21 Every living thing that moved on land perished—birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind.(AT) 22 Everything on dry land that had the breath of life(AU) in its nostrils died. 23 Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; people and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth.(AV) Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.(AW)

24 The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days.(AX)
