40 (A)You shall be over my house, and according to your [a]command all my people shall [b]do homage; only in the throne I will be greater than you.” 41 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you (B)over all the land of Egypt.” 42 Then Pharaoh (C)took off his signet ring from his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand, and clothed him in garments of fine linen and (D)put the gold necklace around his neck. 43 He had him ride in [c]his second chariot; and they proclaimed before him, “[d]Bow the knee!” And he set him over all the land of Egypt. 44 Moreover, Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Though I am Pharaoh, yet (E)without [e]your permission no one shall raise his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.”

Joseph in Charge of Egypt

41 So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt.”(D) 42 Then Pharaoh took his signet ring(E) from his finger and put it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in robes(F) of fine linen(G) and put a gold chain around his neck.(H) 43 He had him ride in a chariot(I) as his second-in-command,[a](J) and people shouted before him, “Make way[b]!”(K) Thus he put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt.(L)

44 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, but without your word no one will lift hand or foot in all Egypt.”(M)
