15 And Jehovah said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And Jehovah appointed a sign for Cain, lest any finding him should smite him.
16 And Cain went out from the presence of Jehovah, and dwelt in the land of [a]Nod, [b]on the east of Eden. 17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

15 But the Lord said to him, “Not so[a]; anyone who kills Cain(A) will suffer vengeance(B) seven times over.(C)” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him. 16 So Cain went out from the Lord’s presence(D) and lived in the land of Nod,[b] east of Eden.(E)
17 Cain made love to his wife,(F) and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Cain was then building a city,(G) and he named it after his son(H) Enoch.
